Attwood1749-4 Turbo 4000 Series II In-Line Blower, For 4-Inch Interior Diameter Vent Hose, Water Resistant, 12-Volt

I purchased this blower instead of others because I had prior positive experiences with the Attwood brand.This was very easy to install in order to replace an older blower in our boat. The mounting holes were different than the previous blower, so it required drilling one new hole.Wiring is simple, and it worked immediately when it was connected.The noise level is appropriate for the volume of air that it moves. In fact, it was quieter than the old blower it was replacing.

Works as designed and well built

My original blower started making a god awful noise like the bearings on the fan were going out. Replaced it with this, nice and quite and feels like it moves more air. The placement in my engine compartment was another story, but not the blowers fault. I felt like gumby trying to get to the mounting location for replacement.

This replacement blower is so much quieter than the one that came with our boat. It fits perfectly as a replacement. Highly recommend.

I bought this and a 4" Detmar blower at the same time and ran side-by-side comparisons. The Detmar is going back.Update: I ran it every evening for about 4-6 hours on a home-made evap cooler for my chicken coop in the summer of 2019, in central AZ where it gets really, really hot. I use a battery and a solar panel for power. I reduced the speed with a $6 PWM speed controller, because 1) I didn’t need all the air 2) the blower is really noisy at full throttle, and 3) I wanted to reduce the current draw. The controller failed at the start of the second season., but the fan is still working well. I’ll replace the speed controller.

The hardest part about working in a bilge area is access to the components. Once I was able to get to the blower, switching it out was simple, and the unit is nice and quiet.

I ordered two of these 4" fans to move air into the cab of my '63 VW van when the vehicle was stationary or not moving fast enough to create adequate air flow. These fans are not silent but they are quieter than the VW original ambulance fans that I was duplicating. They make the equivalent air force as driving about 50 kmh. I was not using hoses so I trimmed the length of the fan housings to fit the air box. The fans are marine rated so a slight amount of moisture entering the vent should not be an issue...12 volt computer fans would not be able to cope with any moisture.These fans work well although I am not using them as intended by the manufacturer.

End of season. Won’t install until the spring. Looks pretty basic. Tested blowers on battery and they worked well.
