The Company Doing the Reburshing is Key
I've purchased several Amazon Renewed laptops over the years and I've noticed a huge difference in the quality based on who refurbished them. Big shout out to 2ndBazaar for really knowing their stuff and having great attention to detail. This laptop is completely indistinguishable from new. I'm a systems engineer and technician, well qualified to work on electrics. I cracked open the case of the machine and it's clean as a whistle. Even the fan has not a single speck of dust on it. It's clean inside and out, all of the components look great, no missing screws or scuffs or scrapes from working on it, etc.. I *think* the Amazon renewed requirement is for battery life to be at least 80% of it's original spec... This one is 94%... so essentially a brand new battery, since I think they often are not 100% even if you buy them brand new. They even flashed the machine with the latest firmware, something they could easily have skipped and most people would never even notice. In the interest of full disclosure, I did send back the first one they sold me. There was a problem with the display, but it was not detectable at the time. Out of the box there was a very small area of burn-in on the bottom left, only noticeable to someone like me who doesn't use Windows. Otherwise you'd never know. Whether it's related or not, the display backlight died eventually. It was accepted for return and I ordered another, which I am using right now.The only "mistakes" are good ones. Both machines have a touch display and have an additional 8 GB of memory from name brand companies. For those who want to see the exact specs, the specific model of these T490s is 20N3S5XF01. They are not listed in Lenovo's PSREF; presumably since they are late model T490s. But if you type the model into their support site, you can see all the specs, which match the actual specs of the machines I received. To get a T series Thinkpad, still officially supported by Lenovo, for this price, is really nuts. Couldn't be happier!

Don't buy. Amazon and Seller do NOT do anything if it malfunctions
Ah, the joys of online shopping! Ordered this fine piece of engineering on July 12, 2024, and it came with a delightful surprise—a broken USB-C charger! (The port was damaged, of course, because why not?) Naturally, I had the privilege of buying a new one myself. But wait, there's more! The device decided to treat me to a frequent dose of the infamous blue screen every few days. After an exciting journey through every possible Windows and BIOS fix, I achieved absolutely nothing. Then, starting in December 2024, things really spiced up—overheating galore, followed by automatic shutdowns (because who doesn’t love an impromptu break from work?). Curiosity got the best of me, so I opened the back case, and behold—a marvel of modern craftsmanship! The SSD card was just casually chilling there, with no screws securing it to the motherboard. Who needs stability, right? So I took matters into my own hands, bought some screws, and secured it. Miraculously, the blue screen issue vanished! Overheating, though? Still thriving.Customer support? A true masterclass in frustration. Amazon cheerfully informed me they couldn't help and suggested I contact the seller or manufacturer. Lenovo? Oh, they kindly reminded me that my warranty had expired on checks notes June 8, 2023. And the seller? A ghost. One Amazon agent (on 2/1/2025 at 17:34, bless her soul) assured me she reached out to the seller and told me to wait 48 hours. I naively asked if I could get a reference number, so I wouldn’t have to tell my tragic tale from the beginning every single time. "No need!" she assured me, "Any future agent can see the previous notes."Fast forward to 2/4/2025—no response from the seller (shocking). So, I called Amazon again, only to be told there was no record of any previous contact with the seller. What an absolute plot twist! And, as a grand finale, the agent hung up on me while I was mid-sentence.So here I am, with a device that enjoys overheating like it’s a personal sauna. 10/10 experience, would definitely recommend! 😊

Thinkpad T-490
Ordered this as a personal PC since my work provided PC is the same model. This lets me easily swap on my home dock.1. PC showed up with 16 GB of Memory instead of the 8 GB as stated when I placed the order. Wow and thank you.2. Power supply was Lenovo Brand new with the protective film on it. Wow and thank you again3. No damage to case , only some very minor polish on the track pad from use, Wow again considering this was a refurbished PC4. Super Wow!!! It ended up being a touch screen when the listing did not specify it as one, what a great bonus.5. Battery appears to be in good shape so far, when fully charged and running the PC for a a bit, it states it has 3+ hrs of run time, will post an updated review if the battery degrades quickly.6. Only issue after a clean boot up was the system flagged a Thunder Bolt driver issue, easy fix by installing newest driver and Firmware7. Since the PC was running so great I went ahead and let the system update from Windows 10 to 11. No issues and is still running great after initial use.So far totally delighted!!,

Powerful machine for a great price.
I bought this to replace an old Dell laptop that I used for years as my personal device. This thinkpad came with twice as much memory, twice as much storage, and a CPU capable of running Windows 11. I have used Thinkpads for work and they are very durable in my experience. The unit was said to be refurbished but mine appearss to be brand new. I am delighted with the machine.
