Jesse Livermore's How-to Trade in Stocks
S**T
Inexpensive easy access to Livermore's wisdom, in his own words
It is nice to see Livermore's insights re-printed in this short, inexpensive book that he wrote long ago. Anyone interested in learning how Jesse Livermore traded and made several fortunes can find it here without having to read the longer LeFerve's classic book on him. The only disappointment for me is that the book does not include Jesse's stock matrix showing how he applied the rules presented to a few stocks. To get this, one has to buy one of the previous editions of this book. I never understood the matrix anyway, and it is not needed with today's automatic charting programs that did not exist in the 1940's. I intend to add this book to the required reading list for my undergraduate honors course on technical analysis.

A big fan of his
This guy's writings have helped me more than that of any other trader or author. His straight-up, straight-forward approach puts you on the path you need to be if you're going to even get into the neighborhood of success in the market....GREAT stuff

This book doesn't have any pictures or charts???
Ch8 details "The Livermore Market Key". This was Jesse Livermore's system to determine pivot points OR the tops and bottoms of trends. These explanations are hard to follow without pictures of the 6 column chart that Jesse uses to determine the start and end of trends. I actually found a video on YouTube that showed a picture of this chart.I would suggest that if there is another book by this title with pictures & charts, you should buy that one.

Disappointing and poorly edited
While this book contains some good general guidance from the world's greatest stock trader, overall it is quite lacking. One reviewer pointed out that the book is missing pages 79-111. That makes sense because the book ends abruptly on page 78 after a confusing description of how to find pivot points. There are typos that obscure meaning. The language is awkward at times. Some of the stories are hard to absorb on the first reading. There are wonderful books about Jesse Livermore, including Richard Smitten's biography and Edwin Lefre's fictional version. Those books are far more instructive--and far more readable-- than this sorry text written by Jesse himself.Jesse was an amazing trader, but he is a poor writer. One anecdote in the book describes Jesse trying to get a friend to invest in a business venture. The friend replies, "Livermore, you will never make a success in any business outside of your own...please speculate and stay away from business." The writing in this book proves the friend to be correct. Please read one of the great biographies of Jesse and skip this book.

Missing key pages
This book is missing many pages at the end, including the key charts Livermore used and are described in the pages that are included. There are much better Livermore book choices.
