This is a rugged little lantern. I have to say that for $10, I was not expecting something of this quality. This is a solid well constructed unit that will not disintegrate if it gets knocked on the floor.Other reviewers have stated this provides light for weeks. Not so... While technically it may output light on 3 AA batteries for 125 hours, it isn't at usable levels.I bought two of these, and as soon as I received them, I took one of them and inserted the batteries that were included with it, turned it on and left it. I wanted to see if it would live up to other reviewers claims on battery life.I realize that battery life would be extended with intermittent usage rather than continuous use, but if you are planning to use this for emergencies, you may need it running continuously for extended periods.Anyway, the first 24 hours were the brightest. It easily illuminated my 10 X 12 study well enough to distinguish objects around the room, and I had no problem reading by it. After 48 hours, it did get somewhat dimmer and to read by it, I had to hold the book right next to the light. At approx 72 hours the light was feeble and I had difficulty reading a book with the light right next to the book. The light output was less than a standard night light I have in my bathroom.At this point, I opened up my second lantern that I had purchased, inserted the included batteries and set it side by side with the lantern that had been running continuously for 3 days. The lantern with the fresh batteries was far far brighter, so at this point I ended the experiment as I felt that the light output from the lantern that had been running for 3 days really wasn't useful.The last thing I did was to insert 3 fresh energizer batteries in the lantern that had been running for 3 days and set it side by side with the lantern with the fresh batteries that were included with it. The lantern with the energizer batteries was noticeably brighter.So, buy the best batteries you can and you may well get the 125 hours of light this is purported to produce.All in all, this is a very good value for the price.UPDATE 06/05/2011:It's been almost 3 years since my original review and both lanterns are still running in top notch condition. My neighborhood in Springfield MA took a direct hit from an EF3 tornado 4 days ago and these lanterns have been my primary source of light since then. I've not been running them non-stop as in my original tests, but only for about 5 hours a night, and they put out extremely useful light levels. I haven't had to change the batteries out once. My utilities were restored yesterday, but these lanterns performed the task extremely well. I'm going to order a few more.

Wow, this little thing ROCKS! the power of this device is outstanding! I bought this to use on a set of Sennheiser HD 202 II Professional Headphones and have been blown away by the performance of this Amplifier! The bass boost (gain level switch) is an awesome feature that works quite well. The headphones I use are bassy as it is but this amp takes it to another whole level! This amp is not an audio afficionados best friend as it wiill introduce mild distortion. But that distortion is probably not even noticed by the average consumer. There is three separate EQ settings and two selectable gain levels to tailor the sound output to almost any taste. Plus if you are experiencing any kind of feedback there is a protection circuit that kicks in to protect your headphones (and your ears) from any sudden unexpected problems with the signal, this saves you from any harmful squeels or unpleasant and/or potentially damaging sounds to your hearing. The internal Li-ion battery, can be charged via a mini-USB port, and is user-replaceable, which will ensure that the E11 won't be just tossed in the trash when the battery fails. There is a 3.5 mm stereo input and output receptacle on the amp which will work with most all popular mobile devices and earbuds on the market. The volume is controlled by a volume control wheel located on the top side of the unit and is protected by a surround from accidental movement. This volume dial is accessed from either side and rotated to increase or decrease volume levels. Also, you can actually use a Y adapter to listen to two sets of headphones at once! I get on average over 5 hours of constant use out of my device on one battery. I bought a backup battery when new so that I can use it for extended periods. A battery charges in a little over 1 hour. There is also a USB port on the side of the charger, so If you need to use a USB port while your using the charger you can plug into the spare port on the charger while charging. The amplifier cannot be used while the unit is charging, and that's where a spare battery helps. I have even used this as a mini amp for a set of mini speakers on my laptop and this made them little suckers JAM! I would definately recommend this to a friend, already have!!

I purchased this lantern for a seance we were having. I wanted to use it to light up the wiji board, since the location we were going to was long abandoned. The lantern lit the wiji board up perfectly and still kept going strong even after madam Lerou conjured up the spirits of Doctor Price's sanitarium for the legally insane. When everything began to float around us in the room, the lantern still kept going, even in mid floating. Suddenly everything fell to the ground and a voice called out "WHY HAVE YOU DISTURBED US" and madam Lerou was lifted up into the air and torn into about a thousand pieces, I could only see this because the lantern was still going strong. Suddenly Jimmy was thrown across the room and into a dark cell nearby. I grabbed my lantern and ran over to him, the lantern still kept strong and lit my way. I entered the room Jimmy was thrown into and held my lantern in front of me just to see Jimmy strapped into the old sanitariums electro-shock therapy machine. The ghost suddenly called out "leave this place or you are next!". Jimmy suddenly began to convulse and tremor until his head exploded. I grabbed my lantern and ran out the sanitarium as quick as possible. When I reached the outside and couldn't find my car keys, I used the little clip above the lantern to hang it from my car as I searched for my car keys. I was so hungry after all this that I drove on over to Popeyes and only the drive thru was open. So I ordered and parked my car, I didn't want to waste my car battery by turning on the lights, but I also knew the lantern was very bright, that's when I remembered the lantern has a little back plate you can slide up to just make the light shine from the front. This was perfect for this situation, I lifted the plate and waalah, just enough light to enjoy my chicken. Love that chicken from Popeyes!!!
