4oz Bay Leaves Semi Selected (whole and broken leaves), Hojas de Laurel, Dried Bay Leaf by 1400s Spices

This is a bulk amount of bay leaves, about a quarter of a pound. For the price when I bought them, $8.01 with tax, I really got a great buy. Are these perfect and pristine leaves, no. Are there some small twigs, yes, but they are very small, and very few in number. With that said, the leaves are usable for soups, stews, roasts, etc.I started packing these in spice jars, in about the same amount as what you get when buying from stores, and I ran out of jars. I had to tightly pack them into jars for better storage than just the zip bag they came in. I figure compared to what I was buying at the grocery stores, I have somewhere in excess of $30 worth of bay leaves, even after having given about 1/4 of the bag to my parents and my nephews.

Since the pandemic, my local grocery store stopped it bulk service area where I usually get most of my spices to refill my bottles at home. Now when it came time to fill my bottle of bay leaves, I purchased this product. Overall, I was satisfied with the bay leaves. Many of the leaves were broken, but there were plenty of whole leaves also, which I prefer. The quality to me wasn't as good. Some of the leaves looked beaten and bruised, and didn't really have that very fresh and best look. But the price was right, and I am sure that these bay leaves will meet the need for my recipes.

First of all, the leaves were quite fragrant, which means they're fresh. However, many of the leaves were quite discolored as if they'd been damaged, possibly by very low temperatures? And, others had bug chew holes. Altogether, these are a good value for the money.
