I was a huge fan of Mario and Sonic at the Summer Olympic Games. Now, I can't play that game without comparing it to this one. I'm assuming that you have played the first game, but you don't need to have played it to enjoy this one in anyway. There are new characters, one in every skill type. They are Metal Sonic for speed, Bowser Jr. for all around, D.K for power, and Silver for skill. Also, there are more dream events, which are (thankfully) nothing like the glitching four dream events in the last. It has great graphics, and is much more easier to navigate. From here, I will give you a run down of some of the events and my opinions. You can, but don't have to, use your wii balance board for some events, including bobsleigh, my favorite. FIGURE SKATING: All about timing. You pick your own musical choice from a selection provided (Some of the songs include Ave Maria, waltz of the flowers, etc.) and make motions with the wii mote in time to the music. It is one of my and my friends favorite, though it sounds and looks much harder than it is. Don't let that discourage you! HOCKY: This is best with more than one person. It is the best multiplayer event in the game. My friends and i had so much fun. The directions, however, are very unclear. THE MULTIPLE SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING EVENTS: these are the most disappointing. They all seem the same, and are hard to control. BOBSLEIGH/SKELETON: these are very fun and realistic. you have the option of using the Wii balance board, where you can steer the sled with your weight by swaying back and forth. It almost seems real. Or you could play the normal way, which is just as fun. CURLING: Bocci on Ice. My only complaint with this is that its the longest event by far. It takes from 15-20 minutes to complete a tournament. As oposed to the usually 2-5 minute events. SPEED SKATING: All about timeing. It can be kind of frustrating, but I find it very fun. Overall, this a very fun game. It's alot better with more than one person, though. For one player, there is festival mode, which is a one player adventure mode. It is not too tough, nor too easy. I found it to be very enjoyable. Another thing is... do not purchase this game if you are troubled with rythems. this game is all about timing, swinging the wiimote down at the right time. It can be VERY frustrating at times. I'd recommend this from ages 8 to 15 or adult. So, here I am telling you more bad things than good about the game, and I'm rating it 5 stars. Truly, please believe me when i say this is the good game. I just have an annoying habit of being negative. This is well worth the price.

This is one of those movies which deals with Mario and Sonic as video game icons from respective brands which leads to a pretty good marriage come think of it of uniqueness of what games you can put them in. I came in with some pretty high expectations and they got automatically lowered when I realized or certain things you can and can't do in the video game. I forgot what they are but if you want to get this game you better be a fan of both Mario and Sonic because it's a pretty big let down on my end. And the worst part is it tells you to do certain things and if you don't do exactly what it tells you you're pretty much in serious trouble when you do these things. I'm not one of the best video gamers in the world but it was such a letdown it's not even funny.

We got the Mario & Sonic Winter Olympic game for our Wii along with the Wii fit board as a late Christmas present. From day 1 everyone was skiing, snowboarding and sliding down the snow trying to beat each others and their own persoanl bests. Every visitor has had to try it too which adds to the fun and I'm sure hooked more people whne they return home. The graphics are excellent and we like the fact that if you do fall off the side of the slopes or crash, it gets you back up and in the race very quickly. I have a 5 year old and 6 year old daughters who prefer this to any of the other Wii games they have played which gives testiment. Maybe now the winter olympics have finished this interest will wane but a great buy. Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games

Like usual Mario games, each round is short. It comes with a variety of games that challenges the skill level of the players and really brings out the competitive side of the players. I personally like the games in the original more (swimming, trampoline, relay) , but we had fun playing this too. Best played with you have family or friends over. The more players the better. We got lots of laughs out of this.
