THE BIG FOUR PAPERBACK
I was brought up on Blyton and Christie. By 13 I was avidly devouring every Christie book I could get (a lot from Boots Public Library!!!!). This, written in 1927, is not one of her best. Too far fetched and simplistic and lacking the depth and character of her better Poirot/Marple/Tommy and Tuppence, and of my favourites "Man in Brown Suit". The plot here is very far fetched....but I kept reading and page turning. Many many years since I last read it and I had forgotten the story. Forget too the monstrous mash up ITV made with Suchet's excellent Poirot but butchered plot. Give this a go. If you have never read a Christie (Is there anyone?) perhaps this isn't the best, but I still enjoyed it.

Poirot out of his comfort zone
Although Agatha has trouble writing thrillers, this book is the exception. It is beautifully read by Hugh Fraser (Hastings) and twists and turns through 6 hours of enjoyable listening. Poirot is really out of his comfort zone as he and his twin brother have to take on, one at a time, each of the big four responsible for world unrest. No cosy country house theme in this one.

Better than expected!
Better than I expected - read it years ago and didn't seem as good as other Poirot stories, but as usual, Hugh Fraser's reading makes it enjoyable. Definitely one I will listen to more than once ;-)

Not one of Agatha Christie's best ones - a spy story.
I have all her books which improved as she wrote more.
