Just today I received this go set, and wasn't sure what to expect, but hopeful it was worth the cost. I'm very much a novice to the game, having only played online, and wanted to play face to face with friends. Upon opening my package, I was immediately impressed with the quality of the board. Its very solid, very flat, and aesthetically pleasing. The lines are etched into the board, and are perfectly uniform and visible. Again, being a newcomer to the game, i've never played with real stones, and these are just as impressive as the board. Through my multiple games with my daughter, I haven't noticed any damaged stones, they have a nice feel to them, and look great. One reviewer mentioned that the lids would not "stay on" the container for the stones, but the nice, traditional wooden bowls don't have a locking/secure lid either. They are inexpensive plastic containers that do their job. If you want more security, get a rubbermaid container, otherwise, don't throw them carelessly in a bag or your car and you wont have to hunt for your stones. The booklet, "The way to Go", is also very useful for a beginner, even if you know nothing about the game. Its there to get you started and playing, and isn't meant to be comprehensive. I am more than happy with what I have, it is money well spent as long as you intend on playing, and I don't see the set losing any value as long as you take care of it. I would recommend this set, and buy it again.

I bought this wanting a cheap set a step above a rollout board. I had some apprehensions about this set because of the thinness of the board and the single convex stones. The board because in the past I have bought other board games like shogi and have been disappointed with the boards in this price range. Thankfully i found this board to exceed my expectations. Though not thick it does have a nice tone to its wood grain/stain? I dont know much about wood products but I can say the color is easy on the eyes and im impressed by the etched in lines. According to my experience the lines of go boards are traditionally put on with some kind of ink. Though the board departs from that it looks sharp and i assume these lines wouldnt wear away since they are carved in.Concerning the stones I'm very happy. Before now I have only used yunzi stones so i was doubtful of the quality of plastic ones. Well after having played with them i can say they are great in their own right. Though naturally their heft is less than yunzi it wasnt painfully so. Also yunzi requires washing and oiling, steps not needed with these melamine stones. Their surface is smooth and they possess a uniformity of color. Previously I had only used bi convex stones and so I must say that these have shown me that single convex has virtues of its own. From the feel of the stones I dont think they will easily chip either. So with this set you get a durable board and stones.The bowls are not remarkable in any way. They are a bit on the flimsy side but traditional bowls dont have very secure lids either. If you are planning on transporting this set I would suggest buying plastic food comtainers to replace them. I will say the bowls look pleasant on their simple lines.Overall im very satisfied with this purchase and I feel safe in recommending it to others.

I’m really enjoying this go board (going on 7 months now). The etched lines are deep and precise, the birchwood surface is nice and has good sound, and the board has remained flat in our dry desert air. I personally like that the board is thin and light, though others may prefer more heft in a board. The bowls are somewhere between inadequate to downright irritating, but I’ll live with them for awhile. I liked the feel and sound of the melamine stones more than I thought I would, but found I don’t care for the single convex stones that came with the board and replaced them with similar double convex stones. Like this board so much that I have ordered a similar full-size (19x19/13x13) board (Go Game Premium Beechwood 19x19 and 13x13 Grids Veneer Go Table Board (WXP-0012)).

Perfect! Why is it so hard to find something like this? I had to wait for weeks for it to be in stock, and it was out as soon as it was in. If you get lucky, definitely buy. I've been teaching friends for years across many continents, and I have finally come to terms with the fact that a 19x19 is daunting, exhausting, and becomes overwhelming/boring for a beginner--too many choices. Far better to teach them on a 9x9 first, then on a 13x13. This board is perfect for that, and so much nicer than using the cardboard hand-made ones I've made do with in the past. The chinese style assymmetrical stones are also nice for showing variations, again ideal for teaching. They also seem fairly nice, as far as plastic stones go--they don't feel super cheap.

I'm a beginner. I got this board to convince my wife and kids to play go together. The board and stones are very high quality. Yes, there are even more high quality ones eg if you pay over $100 you can get "yunzi" stones. But having received this product, I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality. Highly recommended for beginners.

The board was my biggest fear and it is much nicer than I thought. The stones are very nice and satisfying to touch and having the 9x9 has been so helpful to teach my friends with. You could easily upgrade just the board later and be just fine with these stones. I think it comes with the 180 count of each color. Couldn’t be bothered to count them one by one.

This is a nice and sturdy board with smooth and pleasing to touch pieces. Very helpful to have the 9-row beginner's grid and we are now playing the 13-row board. Highly recommend it if you're looking a nice but affordable Go set.

Aquest és un kit de taulell i pedres de Go, de bona manufactura i qualitat. Ideal per a fer partides ràpides i mantenir el respecte que el joc es mereix. El taulell aprofita les dues cares per poder entrenar a 9x9 i 13x13. La proporció ample : fons no és 1:1, cosa que permet corregir la distorsió òptica des de l'ull dels jugadors.Quasi bé tot genial, excepte que el producte tomba per mig món, fent unes 3 escales, abans d'arribar a ser lliurat, cosa que fa que el preu sigui elevat per meu gust.

Bien emballé, règle du jeu en anglais mais illustré, pion dans des boîtes en plastique fermant bien. Plateau bois deux faces pour jouer (petit et grand modèle) bonne qualité.

Very nice go game board and stones. My 8 years old daughter absolutely love it. Overall very good materials.Only i can say that stone containers are looks made by cheap plastic. That can be something a bit better and strong.But this s not such a big problem as well.
