Sad end for author who was a child prodigy.
Haven't read this book yet but it arrived promptly, in excellent condition and the cover is beautifully illustrated. This book is apparently famous in the U.S.A but not here in the U.K, and I heard about it via YouTube. The author vanished without trace after marrying an abusive older man, sadly. The circumstances surrounding her disappearance were very suspicious and it is believed that she was likely murdered by her husband. She was a very kind person by all accounts and gifted, being a child prodigy. I hope she managed to escape him and lived in hiding, but it seems unlikely.

A wonderful piece of nature writing and fantasy
Barbara Newhall Follett published this book when she was twelve years old and it is a beautifully crafted and well-observed piece of nature writing mixed with fantasy. The main character, Eepersip, is a young girl who runs away from home to live in nature and gradually becomes part of nature itself. Her disappearance in real life was initially shrouded in mystery and it now emerges that it was tragically cut short, the truth of how and when may never be fully known.

Beautiful book
The book itself is a thing of beauty: lightweight, despite being hardback; dust cover with a design of golden butterflies; delightful and engaging illustrations; inbuilt ribbon bookmark - all in all, a pleasure for the hands and eyes. The story, rich with detailed description of nature and wild creatures, seen through the eyes of an empathetic and very special 'wild' child, is a treasure. I have not yet finished it and am rationing myself, as I don't want it to be over.

Boring and over rated
Not sure what all the fuss is about. I did not finish it. A child wrote a long winded essay, used some nice description and the adults are all very dim.

Wonderful
