Q: Does this come with an extra lid so that we can use it without the french press option?

No they advertised it as French press, but it just comes with the normal lid no French press.

Q: How does the white silicone and rubber hold up after regular use? Will black coffee or tea leave stains? Thanks.

The lid requires washing with attention to the corners. I usually run it through the dishwasher, and the coffee or tea stains come off readily. The lid isn't quite as white as when I got it. The band of silicone--that allows it to be held--continues to be perfectly white.

Q: When the flip lid is up to drink, does it stay in place or does it fall back down as you drink?

The flip lid locks back and stays in place while drinking. Its easy to open and close.
