Q: What is the grit made of in this product? Is it a micro crystal...or more of a sugar or salt consistency?

It's pumice granules. Sugar cane extract, lemon fruit extract, apple fruit extract and green tea leaf extract. The granules are very fine and gentle. I actually thought it was microcrystals. I have sensitive skin and have had no issues at all. I love it.

Q: When should I use this during my face cleaning routine?

I have been using this scrub for almost a year. 2 times per week. I lightly exfoliate my face with a wash cloth, then use this in place of my cleanser. I have combination skin. It has lightened spots, does not dry out my dryer areas, has shrunk/removed old acne scars, shrunk pores, evened my skin tone. I can even use it around my eyes, just lighter pressure. I've bought it from DRMTLGY site; this is their stuff! It's sold by weight, not volume so don't get worried if you get a tub with an empty spot or air bubble.

I just looked on their website and they are cruelty free they do not test on animals

I lightly exfoliate my face and neck with a washcloth before use 2 times/wk.
