Product Description The Wolf House is an animated film unlike any other, an exquisitely handcrafted surrealist docu-horror-fairy tale about one of Chile's darkest periods. The film follows Maria, a young girl who hides in a mysterious abandoned house in southern Chile after escaping from a colony run by German religious fanatics. Maria is welcomed into the home by two pigs, the only inhabitants of the place. Like in a dream, the universe of the house reacts to Maria's feelings. The animals transform slowly into humans and the house becomes a phantasmagorical world of both beauty and horror. Inspired on the actual case of Colonia Dignidad, "The Wolf House" masquerades as an animated fairy tale produced by the leader of the sect in order to indoctrinate it's followers. The Most Fascinating and Creative Stop-Motion Animated Film This Decade
One of the most creative and disturbing pieces of art I've ever had the privilege to consume.I knew nothing of the real-life Chilean cult this piece of fake propaganda made reference to while watching, but understanding the full context now, I find "The Wolf House" to be a masterpiece.Historically, the majority of cult leaders have been men and the majority of cult followers have been women. "La Casa Lobo" explores this truth from the female perspective, visualizing the domesticity, tragedy, powerlessness, and patriarchy that make women (especially in countries like Chile, where they are oppressed) more susceptible to cultism. It's basically everything Midsommar was trying to say, but told better. While "The Wolf House" is disguised as a chipper recruitment film for a "happy colony" in the woods, the movie plays out like a nightmare. Directors Joaquin Cociña and Cristóbal León present a collection of images and moments so disturbing, one could label "The Wolf House" as a horror film. Like the best horror films, "The Wolf House" frightens in what it implies rather than what it shows. The occult and abuse imagery on display here symbolically recall the real-life atrocities of the Colonia Dignidad cult on which "The Wolf House" is based. And the implication that this film was "approved for public display" by this cult only darkens the imagery here. Apparently, there are also many reference to this cult's practices and religious icons laced throughout. Great care was taken to make this as authentic a "recruitment film" as possible. The animation in "The Wolf House" is god-tier. Blows Jan Svankmajer and the Brothers Quay out of the water. The idea of using an entire house for stop motion animation is audacious enough, but the 1st Person POV, the frequent camera movement, and use of sculpture, physical objects, and matte paintings create a stop motion film unlike anything I've ever seen. Every stop motion film you watch after this will feel lazy by comparison.Any fans of animation, horror, the original darker Brothers Grimm fairy tales, or film in general will love this one. This is one of those animation achievements everyone will be trying to top for years to come.

Wow! Just... wow...
Not something you'd ever want to watch for fun on a Friday night with friends... But if you're okay with dark and disturbing entertainment and happen to be in the mood to ponder things deeeeply, you'll probably really appreciate this. Not going to lie though... I couldn't make it all the way through but I'm giving it 5 stars because man, the art and the execution is just so SO great! And the message it gives that animation DOES NOT always have to be a children's medium but can reach so much further. Love it!

Great Feature Film, (but the short films are meh)
For anyone who loves stop motion, or experimental cinema, this is an excellent choice. Nothing quite compares to the uniqueness and eerie beauty of this film. The short films that come with the feature film are a little iffy though. Weathervene is okay. The Smaller Room is beautiful and very well done. But The Witch and the Lover is utter rubbish in my opinion, and I don’t know why Leon or Cocina would even want to show it.All ‘n all, this is a great Blu-ray to have in any horror or arthouse or animation library. Highly recommend. My only qualm is I wish there was a commentary. Maybe an option to turn the movie’s dialogue/subs off, and replace it with a commentary/subs from the directors. That option would have greatly been enjoyable. This was definitely worth the money though. I would have paid double for it had I had to. Highly recommend.(It arrived quickly, but Amazon DID NOT ship it in a box, but used a big envelope. This is not a good idea. Especially when it comes to NEW films, as two of the films that I bought with this one arrived damaged, due to the way they were shipped.)

Bad movie all around
I hated this movie so much. I spent 10 bucks on a poorly written and really bad stop motion type horror movie which was anything but. Don’t listen to the reviews this was really really disappointing.

This takes skill
"You're in the wrong house."La Casa Lobo is a fantastic experience. It's the most imaginatively satisfying animation I've seen. Prepare to be in awe at the pure insane creativity spun out before you, every set-piece is a work of art. This may even be one of my favorite animated films. It takes skill to make something so damn beautiful like this.
