Campho-Phenique has been a part of my life since childhood - a long, long time ago. I "rediscovered" it when my son was small and constantly banging into things. This product is really astonishing when it comes to bumps and bruises, so much so that I have both the gel and the liquid in my medicine chest today. If this is applied to a bump or bruise shortly after they occur, it will either stop an "egg" from coming up or make the bruising much less. As an example, my son was accidentally pushed into the corner of a cast-iron stove by a friend when he was young. An egg the size of a literal egg rose on his forehead. I applied Campho-Phenique immediately and then at bedtime, and by the next day, there was hardly any swelling or bruising. I know I sound like a snake-oil salesman, but I really believe in this product, so much so that I sent a tube to my now-grown son, since he couldn't find it where he lives now. Note that you don't want to have this too close to anyone's eyes and also that it's made with eucalyptus oil, I believe, so it's got a noticeable aroma. But don't let that stop you if you have children or tend to bump into things yourself. It's really a must-have first-aid product.

I have used camphophenique all of my life. I always felt it was a safe product and does a good job. I am allergic to so many other products and this is good for cuts bites and whatever. It does not have an order to it.

This is so much better than any otc bite cream I've ever used.
