Q: my son is 10 and needs a costume. Is this too small?

Probably....my son is 6 1/2 years old and is pretty thin. He is wearing a size 7 pants and shirts. He can fit into now, but probably not next year

Q: Is this an appropriate toy for a 2 year old? It says 3-6 in the description, but is that just size based? The 2 year old in question is very tall.

I bought these last year for Halloween for my (at the time) 2 yr old daughter and 3 yr old son. My daughter fit in it fine. The tunic was a little loose on her and the sleeves had room to grow, but that wasn't a problem for us. Personally for dress up I prefer items I won't have to replace for a few years and she wasn't bothered by the loose fit. It is made of such strong material that I would still highly recommend because it will definitely last for the 3-6yr old years. Ours are still in like new condition one year later. 

Q: what material is the top of the sword made of?

The sword blade is a firm, but somewhat flexible foam, while the handle is made similar to the material of a boogie board. Hope that helps.

I think it might be a little small. My son (who just turned 6 and is wearing size 5/6) fits perfectly in this now. In a year it will probably be too small.
