Q: Does it work on colored pencil?

For pencil, you'd do better with the other Faber Castell eraser pencil, with no brush on the end. This is a gritty one made for ink, etc. The other kind has soft pink eraser inside.

Q: Are they sharpened in the same way as regular pencils? I've never used these before.

You can try. Some sharpeners will do fine, some will tear the eraser off. I don't think there's any way to know if one specific sharpener will do a good job without just trying it. I use an X-acto knife, myself.

Q: Is the eraser part hard or soft

THEY ARE FIRM BUT NOT HARD, DO NOT SHARPEN TO A TIP BECAUSE THE TIP WILL BREAK OFF. THEY ERASE VERY WELL. THEY ARE MY FAVORITE ERASER FOR MY COLORED PECILS.

Q: I know it's not marketed as such, but will this erase colored pencil?

Yes. At least it does mine. I am using pentech pencils. This eraser was recommended by an artist teacher on Youtube. I used it on my colored pens as well but it only made the color lighter, however; I stopped erasing so as not to damage the paper. Just in case you are new to using colored pencils - there is a special knack to sharpening them. This is taught on youtube as well. Hope this was helpful!
