Decent read, good character development
I struggled to get into it straight away, but once I did I found it to be a great read, the characters are realistic, gritty and endearing. Great build up with the story.Good quality physical book

Fascinating
A very bleak and violent story about young wannabe Camorristas in Naples who are ready to go to any length to achieve their aims of making money and gaining status in the ugly underworld of the Neapolitan mafia. Their is nothing remotely romantic about and Saviano makes sure we know that. These are not angry young boys from under-privileged backgrounds but rather teens from working- and middle-class families who think that working for a living is for losers. There are no redeeming characteristics and definitely no heroes in this tale. The translation sometimes feels a little off kilter for some reason though may have something to do with the author's prose and the extensive use of dialect in the texte followed by the words in English. You cannot by any means call this an enjoyable read but it is a fascinating one.

A Page Turner
This was my first time reading a novel by Roberto Saviano. I couldn't put it down. His vividness and imagery are absolutely amazing. And the ending was perfect. I can't wait to read more from Saviano. I've already bought Piranhas as a present for my friends birthday.
