Genius.
Honestly, I can't believe this muh magnificience is contained within this small book. It might be that I really correlate and ''fit'' with the content, just like a relationship, when you fit, sparks can happen. if you feel like a leader and have always knew you were here to lead in some way, even if it's just that you know you're here to have a leader attitude in the household, family, friendship, surrounding. It is something that will awaken the leader within.Know that this book about ''leader'' has nothing to do with domination, Seth Godin understand very well the game, and is not into abuse, persuasion and other things that are not in correlation with honesty, he is very clean and wonderful, it's true leading that he is talking about.I'm still quite at the beginning of the book and I can tell, I don't know if there is spiritual quotes or spiritual masters named in the book, but for sure, this is leader spirituality, this is mastery. Go ahead a get it my friend hahaha.I love it... He wakes up my own genius... That's what genius is.

Profound insights - with a twist in presentation
As you browse through the book, you will notice something different. There is no forward or introduction. There is no table of contents. There are no chapters. In that sense the book is totally different than anything you have ever read before. The book is short and easy to read, but for some the lack of structure will pose a problem. Seth deals with that on the next to the last page, "And it is possible you missed the checklists, the detailed how-to list and the For Dummies- style instruction manual that shows you exactly what to do to find a tribe and lead it.I think that was the point."There are a couple of strong impressions I got from the book. The first is we all want to belong. In the past, our need to belong may have been satisfied by belonging to a larger organization. The trend is to move to smaller and smaller tribes. We have the growing need to feel attached to a group we connect to. In the past, it was difficult for widely dispersed individuals to connect. This is now possible because the Internet has eliminated geographical boundaries. The second theme that runs through out the book is there are those who seek to maintain the status quo and those who seek to facilitate change. We are living in a time when change is occurring more and more rapidly. Those who fight to maintain the status quo are expending lots of energy on a losing battle. Those who embrace change, who work to bring about the changes that their tribes want, will have an easier time with life and make much more money.Seth calls those who seek to maintain the status quo managers. "Managers manage a process they've seen before, and they react to the outside world. Leadership, on the other hand, is about creating change that you believe in."In my opinion, the reason the book is not laid out in a typical book format, with table of content, chapters, etc. is that would be the status quo. It would be a little disingenuous to rail against the status quo but conform to it.All tribes need leaders. You cannot have a leader without a tribe nor can you maintain a tribe without a leader. Seth urges everyone to become a leader. You don't need anyone to appoint you. If you wait for some authority, you will wait forever. Some of the more profound points are:"The irony of this is that all of this fear used to be useful. Fear of change is built into most organisms, because change is the first sign of risk. The fear that used to protect us is not our enemy; it's standing in the way.""Marketing is the act of telling stories about the things we make - stories that sell and stories that spread.""Most organizations spend their time marketing to the crowd. Smart organizations assemble a tribe.""I'd like to paraphrase the Peter Principle. I think what actually happens is that in every organization everyone rises to the level at which they become paralyzed with fear.""What people are afraid of isn't failure. It's blame. Criticism.""...and finally you realize the safest thing you can do feels risky and the riskiest thing you can do is play it safe."There are plenty more gems of wisdom scattered through out the book. But there will be plenty of people who want the step by step instruction on how to build a tribe. If you are looking for specific steps to follow, you are missing the boat and you will probably not profit from reading this book.On the other hand, if you can see the need to change, the need to fight the status quo, to adapt to change, then you will find some inspiration and very helpful insights. As Seth says, "You get to make the choice." If being part of change speaks to you, then this book would be a great read. If you are looking for a step by step manual, look elsewhere.
