Q: The description states that the product is made out of canvas. Is the canvas plastic-coated (as opposed to fabric canvas) to prevent leakage?

We just drove across the country with this and our 13 year old cat. There was no leakage. Worked great. Not sure about exact coating. Used light weight litter and didn't need to change the whole 5 days we were traveling.

Q: If this is made of canvas fabric that cannot be put in a washing machine then don’t you think white was NOT the best color to use?

Possibly not, but, we still like this product. Had ours over 2 years...use it many times a year for travel.

Q: Does it role or fold up so it can fit into a backpack on airplane?

Yes, as long as it's empty. It's made of a canvas material.
