Add to a vinaigrette for a salad dressing, stir into yoghurt with finely chopped coriander and red onion as a dip for flatbread or simply rub onto pieces of lamb before char-grilling.

ADDS SOMETHING TO A LAMB CASSEROLE
Thought I'd try it out after someone was exercising their tonsils to promote it's 'health' benefits on a Sunday morning food & chat show on Channel 4 ( reduces cholesterol and diabetic conditions etc ). They didn't mention in what quantity and in what frequency of use this powder would need to be taken in order to benefit my health so I filed those claims under 'unsubstatiated'. A heaped teaspoonful of this tangy and simultaneously tart ground 'Sumac' did add something appealing to a lamb casserole that I prepared though. I have been informed that people on the African borders of the Mediterranean have it on the table as a condiment like ground pepper. Maybe so, but the powder would have to be more finely ground than in the Bart's pot for me to use it like that.Eamonn

The taste was what it should be
I liked that it smelt and tasted like Sumac. Many shops add other things to it our other berries and the colour is often dark brown instead of red
