Lego Disney Pirates of the Caribbean Whitecap Bay (4194)

Can you ever go wrong with a Lego set for a boy 6-8 and above. I don't think so. The directions seem overwhelming to me, but the kids focus in and follow the steps, ending up with amazingly complex structures. The process is educational and the end result impressive. The only negative is the piles of pieces once the structure comes apart.

Hello. First off I love this set. It came factory sealed which was awesome because it's such a rare set. But the pieces break so easily. I know they are old, but it's insane how such little pressure breaks the pieces when clicking them into place. Please be careful when buying this set because it breaks way too easily. During building, I broke about 7 to 10 pieces which is annoying.

Legos are great! This one was priced $20 down! We picked this one because it came with two mermaid characters. Those individual lego people are expensive so you have to pick a big lego package. Everyone was happy, she got mermaids and I paid $20 cheaper online. Love it!

My son really enjoyed building this set. He is 9 years old and builds Lego sets very quickly. This set has some great play features and stays together well. Good buy

This is a fairly good set. It was a lot of fun building it, although the main part did take a while. It has a lot of pieces and is overpriced and is not super big. I wish that it was easier to carry the set as the different parts are not connected that well. Whitecap Bay does look very, very, very cool when on display and can easily fit in with a collection of Pirates of the Carribbean, Pirates, Castle, or Lord of the Rings sets. If you like to get sets just for the pieces, Whitecap Bay is great. MINIFIGURES The minifigures are all good, especially the pirates. Philip and Scrum look the best. PLAY FUNCTIONS The net shooter is ok. There is a function where you can tip a barrel over and that works great. The searchlight works well too. However, the function where you tip the tower over makes the tower very unstable and fragile. A small push wrecks the whole thing. If you don't like this, you can adjust it slightly and remove the play function by removing 8 1x1 tiles from the tower. Then it is much better. Overall, this is a very good set. I do recommend it, as it looks fantastic and is fun to build and play with.
