Really great dinosaurs of the sea figures
My son loves these dinosaurs figures! That is enough to rate these highly but I think they deserve a longer writeup. Both figures have a solid, sturdy plastic construction. These are not soft, compressible figures and have a nice premium feel to them.MOSASAURUSThe mosasaurus measures just over 14 1/4" long and weighs 8.6 oz. The lower jaw is the only part of the figure that has any articulation. The mouth of the mosasaurus doesn't stay shut, however, and can be opened up to yield a 5/8" maw. The textured body is is colored a dark bluish gray with bronze accents. The eyes and mouth are well painted. Overall the detail level is appreciatively quite high.Probably the only negative thing I can say about the mosasaurus figure is a side effect of shipping. One of the rear fins appears to be pushed closer to its body than the others. Some tweaking of that fin over time will be required to spread it away from the body for a better look.MEGALODONThe megalodon measures just over 11" long and weighs 12oz. Its body is hefty and solid in hand. The megalodon has a textured surface and detailed paint job.The best feature of the model is its articulating lower jaw. When open the insides are also textured and detailed. You can easily make out three rows of teeth in both upper and lower jaw. When closed, the teeth line up very well. When open, I measured a 7/8" maw.The paint job overall is very good. The bottom jaw is white and the bottom of the torso is flesh colored and the transition between them is rather jarring. Where the head is fused to the rest of the body is a very smooth joint fairly well hidden by the paint job. There is actually enough room inside of the megalodon's mouth for it to swallow a LEGO minifigure it its entirety. That is definitely a fun aspect of this model.

More than a kid's toy
To me, these are adult models. Replicas of ancient deep sea creatures. Something you'd find in a high class museum gift shop. They are so realistic. Their textured scales, hues and shading of colors, and their individually molded monster teeth, everything about them is so detailed and fascinating. The mouths open and close (you just push it up or down, old fashioned style.)These are made from a dense, heavy, hard, durable plastic. We have them on display under our TV either side of the add on speaker. We are adults and we are impressed by these and they are decor to us, not toys. But I could see how some young people like 5 to 8 year old boys would love to play with them, maybe even in the pool or bathtub, or mud and trees in the back yard and chase their screaming little sister. (Sounds like I have some ancient history & first hand experience in that specific example, haha 🦈😆).Maybe even a teen or 20s person who is into oceanography or model building or ancient history of ships or dinosaurs would respect these and it would be an impressive gift for them to receive. We are retired in our 60s and we love them! I'd say they appeal to ages 3 to 113, easily.Highly recommended. 🦈🤙
