Thanks to good design by both Chevy and Dorman, this ignition cylinder was easy to prepare and install. Able to set the cylinder up so I could utilize the keys I have.

Epic win
I have been stationed over seas for some years and it is ridiculously hard to find automotive solutions. I broke my 1 and only key and this was my save and grace

2013. Chevy hd
Worked perfectly for 2013 chevy hd 2500. Uses original keys, no need to reprogram. Watched a YouTube video on how to remove the oem cylinder. Followed included instructions to key new cylinder. Easy peasy lemon squeezey key works flawlessly.

Don't just rely on the paper instructions...
Difficulty: 2 out of 10Time Spent: 45-60 minTools: 10mm wrench to remove battery cable. Phillips screwdriver to remove the steering column cover. small pick or even a piece of a wire coat hangar to remove the cylinder. Small pick to push each tumbler out. I also used a small pair of needle nose pliers. couple of paper towels to wipe your hands and the tumblers. Pen to record the numbers on the tumblers. This was one of the most easy fixes you can make to your aging GM vehicle. When the key's start sticking and you struggle with the 'GM wiggle' - buy this to fix it.I just completed this on my 2009 Tahoe. I have to give it up to GM for a good 13 year run on my ignition cylinder. This Dorman lock cylinder was a direct replacement for my Tahoe. I suggest you do this at a desk or sturdy table with great lighting.Go watch a couple of youtube videos on how people are doing it. You can do this project without any special mechanical skills. Pull out one tumbler out at a time, record the numbers, and put in the new spring and tumbler one at a time. You can't miss. Be sure to test your key each time as you insert each tumbler just to test.I feel kind of dumb for waiting a year to do this.

Do it yourself and save the money.
This will save you a lot of money of your other option is the garage/dealer. Easy to understand directions. Mine still hangs up every now and then. Look up the directions to pull your cylinder on youtube and you'll be done in under an hour.
