Great for making a mocha
Great base for a mocha. Less sugar than other brands.

Ghirardelli Chocolate Sauce
The Ghirardelli Chocolate Flavored Sauce is a God-sent....The consistency is over the top—not too thick and not too runny, which makes it suitable for a variety of uses. also, the chocolate taste is authentic—it doesn’t have that artificial flavor that some other brands tend to have.I can’t recommend it enough to other chocolate lovers out there. Five stars all the way!

Great
I like this. Strong dark chocolate flavor. It is thick at room temperature. I did not have much difficulty squeezing the chocolate out of the bottle. The thickness allows me to drizzle the chocolate along the interior of my clear glass coffee mug for a nice presentation. It is also is good for making "hot chocolate" drinks.

Wonderful sauce that's difficult to dispense
I really wanted to give this five stars: I love the dark chocolate flavor and use it in my coffee and on desserts. It's not cloyingly sweet, it tastes rich and chocolatey. Excellent product. It's the packaging I hate. The bottle is quite sturdy, perhaps a little too much so; I don't have arthritis or weak strength in my hands and found this bottle difficult to squeeze out the thick sauce. Putting the bottle in a glass of very hot water for ten or fifteen minutes helps to soften up the chocolate sauce so it dispenses more easily but I don't think it's reasonable to require everyone to heat up sauce in a bottle if they're not expecting to do so. Or maybe it is?In any case, as much as I love this sauce, it is far too much work for me and I am going back to my previous go-to dark chocolate sauce.

Not optimal for mocha
The flavor is excellent. The problems lie elsewhere. The main problem is the syrup's consistency. It is VERY thick. It is difficult to pour it into a measuring cup, difficult to pour out of that into the coffee cup, and it tends to collect at the bottom of a cup of cafe mocha, even after stirring.I find that the Chocolate Milano Syrup by Torani is much better suited for mochas. It comes in a 25 oz glass bottle instead of a plastic squeeze bottle. It has a thinner consistency than the Ghirardelli product and pours quite easily. Its flavor is different from the Ghiardelli that is more bittersweet. Whether you prefer this is a matter of taste and people will disagree. BTW, avoid the Torani Dark Chocolate Pure Made in a plastic squeeze bottle. It suffers from all of the same problems as the Ghiardelli. However, also like the Ghiardelli, its taste is excellent.

This won my hot chocolate taste test over Monin and Torani
I ordered a range of chocolate syrups to do a blind side-by-side taste test. 8 ounces of milk with one heaping teaspoon of each syrup. Monin was solid but my least favorite as the sweetness overpowered the chocolate. Torani was still a bit sweet with a solid milk chocolate flavor. Ghirardelli was the perfect blend of dark chocolate and sweetness. My wife and I both tested blind and this was the top choice for both of us (and she's less of a chocoholic). It's thicker than the others and a little harder to blend, but worth it.
