I love these pens. Very understated.
Gave this one to my daughter, I have used another like it for 25 years, I bought this one because I felt silly to just order a refill. The perfect ink pen for me. Simple, subtle, perfect blend of form and function.

Ergonomic; compact; flows well
After a trip to Switzerland several years ago, I got hooked on the Caran d'Ache 825 model. But after going through 20 of those, I wanted to find a refillable version. The Caran d'Ache 849 is that version (on which the 825 is based). I think it will save money over time since all I'll need to do is buy more Goliath refills. I am extremely pleased with the 849. It is only slightly heavier than the 825 (since it's made of metal), and is about 8mm shorter (which I prefer). The clip, which I don't need, is easily removable. The color of the pen is beautiful, and it writes smoothly. The mechanism to open and close is very easy to use. I'm glad I made this purchase.

Best pens in the market
After using many different types of pens I have found this brand and I am now not looking any further. Reliable, smooth, fashionable… it has it all. Highly recommended!

Expensive for what you get and limited in refill options
Wish this pen had the capacity for alternative refills without modifying them. The pen body and design are great, the ink and point size not so much. A lot of money for limited options.

It’s A Good Pen
Over the years I’ve had at least a dozen of these pens. Sure, I’ve lost a few and actually broken a couple trying to use ‘em for pry bars or punches. But they’re handy, just about the right size, and really sturdy. If you work outside and need to carry a good pen that works well, and you don’t want to carry a tank in your pocket, this’ll work just about as well as any other.

Very nice pen
Good paint coat, easy to hold. Only bad thing is not to know what color ink catridge came with it. A bit careless manufacturing. Other than that, nice Swiss quality

Nice pen - so so refill.
Nothing wrong with it. Loved the style and color.. It just missed my expectations by a little. Too small in length for my preference, and too light even though it is metal (painted). The reason for one star off is that the refill is not as smooth as my Waterman or Sheaffer, but smoother than my Cross ballpoint pens. Most annoying thing about this pen (or rather the refill actually) is that it does not write well when held in a slanted manner like when you write in cursive - It feels scratchy because the very tip of the ball housing catches or gouges the paper when the angle is lower (closer to paper). None of the my other ball pens, even the cheap dollar ones, catch the paper. A more vertical writing angle solves this but it is not comfortable for long writing sessions.Anyway, I use it as an Every Day Carry (EDC) pen - small enough to fit in pocket for quick notes and grocery lists. And the good news is that it will take Parker refills.
