Quiet, does the job well!
I had a normal Zenith de-humidifier that worked well to de-humidify (30pts/day). So I was skeptical to use a desiccant system. But this thing is GREAT! The low setting is incredibly quiet (kind of like a small hand fan). But turning the fan to High speed, is a bit loud (less than my AC unit) and not quiet enough for "quiet" sleep. But turning it to the lowest setting (target is below 35% RH) at low fan, helps keep the humidity low overnight! The air is warm, as expected from a dehumidifier, but it's dry.My window AC that supposedly has a Dry setting (LG 10,000 BTU) for my master bedroom (yes, overkill), only brings the RH down to 50% at 74F. But now when it's even 74F I'm getting 42%. May not sound much but to my wife from California, it feels DRY. And that's what matters.I mainly want dry to get rid of bugs in the apartment since they are attracted to humidity. This is the answer!!I purposely got the 21 pint, because I wanted the room to dry fast. I would get another, because all my portable units (LG, Whynter) do well to cool, but humidity is still an issue. So it's cold and humid.. But this baby will make it dry, and so my temperature doesn't have to be as low.

it works great. Basement (800 sq ft) humidity dropped from 85% ...
I have had it about 1 year, it works great. Basement (800 sq ft) humidity dropped from 85% to 55% and easy to maintain that humidity level. No issues, easy to clean filter and drain attachment are ideal.Update: at about 1 year, and after working very well, it has now developed a horrible whine!!! It is too loud to keep running this unit. Darn it. I have read others complain about a high pitch whine noise. I will contact ecoair.org.

This has saved my RV.
I got this for my 5th wheel, which due to a particularly nasty divorce has become my home for now. At any rate, full timing in an RV during a winter lends to a LOT of humidity, upwards of 80% at times, which is death to an RV. I'd looked at compressor based units but didn't like the size or the nasty hit on the kWH to run them. This seemed to fit the bill, as it is small enough to put in the shower, and has a drain hose which could be put down the shower floor. In terms of it's dehumidifying ability, this thing rocks. In less than 2 days it went from 78% to 32%. Once it got under 40 I dropped to the lower power setting, and it's held it to under 35% ever since. It works far better than compressor based units which tend to get very inefficient once you get under 45%, and don't work worth a flip in the cold.Others have complained that it draws almost as much current in the high power mode as a standard compressor type, but doesn't remove as much humidity for the same wattage expended as a compressor unit. While this may be true, it's not the point. Once the humidity is down to a tolerable level, (which as mentioned previously only took a day or so), you can drop it to the low power setting (and it really only kicks on when I cook or shower), and it draws less than half of the wattage of any compressor based unit. There are a few other desiccant based units out there, however this one had the best bang for the buck in terms of moisture removal ability vs. wattage in low power mode. When running in low mode it draws just a tad over 3 amps.Others have mentioned in their reviews a smell. I haven't experienced this at all, and when one's total square footage for cooking/cleaning/showering/etc is all in direct proximity to the unit I would have expected that I would have. Not so, after a solid month of it running. The only real downside to the unit is the incredibly poorly engineered means of attaching a hose to drain off the condensate. You have to feed a piece of tygon hose through the back of the unit and push it onto an extruded outlet on the tank, then hope keep that in place when you move the unit. The hose falls off so easily it's ridiculous. My solution was to get some very industrial duty waterproof duct tape and lock the hose down to where it comes out the back of the unit. It's serviceable, but not ideal. They could have spent just a tad more and put some sort of quick connect fitting onto the tank to provide a more secure way of attaching the hose. I may at some point break out a dremel tool and modify the back housing to make space for a true quick connect, but for now it solves my problem, and more than likely has literally saved what is now my home from ruin.Good product thus far, and it does have a 2 year warranty, so that's reassuring.

Noisy whine developed after a couple week, getting worse.
After a couple months use, it still works, but has developed a ridiculous whine that happens every 30 seconds or so, and gets progressively worse as time goes on. Sounds like a bearing whining Unacceptable. My original post below.Ok, take this review for what it's worth. I just unboxed it and ran it for a little over an hour. At 54% humidity, it pulled at least a pint. Pulled house [1500 square feet ] down to 51% in that time, and it's POURING rain outside...... which is a usual summer afternoon here on the Carolina coast.Doesn't throw off as much heat as I had feared. No more noise than any other circulation fan. Far quieter than compressor types.I ran a LG 35 pint compressor style for several years. Absurdly noisy. Not as fast as this machine either.

Terrible company, stay away from this product and anything else they sell!
I have owned two of these models. Unfortunately, one worked for just under a year and now is making a horribly loud high-pitched squealing noise and an odor of hot plastic is coming from it. The product has a 2-year warranty. II have repeatedly emailed from the contact form on the manufacturer's website and get no reply. I am hoping to get a response by posting here.UPDATE. No answer from manufacturer. No phone numbers, no address. No way to contact them except a web form, which gets no response. They are hiding. Clearly they don't stand behind their products. Don't buy.FURTHER UPDATE. Now the company has a phone number listed on the website. When you call you get a phony answering service and they never call you back. So disappointed!! Will never buy anything they sell again. They don't stand behind their products.FINAL UPDATE: The company has sent me a new unit which is great. However, it took way too much effort and trouble to get them to do it.
