Product description RL-946 Features: Country of Manufacture: -United States. Dimensions: Overall Product Weight: -0.23 lbs. Review My daughter started using Letter Sounds at age 3 and within weeks she was reading. At age 4 she entered public kindergarten and was tested by her instructor. She tested at a second grade reading level, she was writing and spelling at a higher level, and she was invited to join the first graders during writing. --Cindy DeKeyrel, Skyline North SchoolI absolutely love your Letter Sounds Video. The phonological and orthological aspects of this video combined with that little human mouth in the upper right hand corner of each screen makes your video the most innovative beginning phonics video I have ever viewed. We intend to order Letter Sounds Video for every Child Development Center in Oakland. --Janet Ohanis, M.A., Ed., Administrator, Oakland Unified School District and Pre-K Regional Coordinator, California Reading & Language ProjectI teach Kindergarten, and recently showed your Letter Sounds Video for the first time to my class. After the video was over, a student came up to me, rather excitedly, and told me, "That video gave me a new brain, and now I can read! My old brain didn't know how to read, but now I can!" Sure enough, he went home that night and read an entire story to his parents! He was so proud of himself, and we are so proud of him too. Keep up the good work! --Cindy DeKeyrel, Skyline North School

I like these, for car rides
These video have a style that is much different than the Leap Frog videos. Some reviewers claim these are corny or cheap-looking or something, with their CGI visual style and okie-doke nursery rhyme level pacing. However, I don't think Leap Frog are even trying to teach my son but just entertain him in a guit0free way. These Rock-N-Learn are not for entertainment, but for that sort of charming humpty dumpty pacing that makes you want to play along a bit more. These may lose your son's attention, but the pacing is steady and not erratic, which I feel promotes the style of learning needed so my son can start to lengthen his attention span. Some parents want the tapes that get their attention, but those tapes talk in sharp and erratic dialogue that does not flow in the even way needed for a calm learning environment where ideas are methodically set on tracks in his brain. My mother thinks even these tapes go too fast, but I think these are ideal when we are in the car, so it doesn't steal him away from looking out the window, but just counterbalances the tone and everything when we are riding in my truck.

Rock N Learn - Letter Sounds
Not sure how anyone could say that Rock N Learn is not the best DVD series out there...especially the Letter Sounds Rock 'N Learn: Letter Sounds. This is age appropriate for 3-5 year olds. If I could give this another star, I would. My husband and I spend quite a bit on learning for our son, and have bought Leap Frog and the like. NOTHING has compared to this series of products. My son watches it over and over again. He knows all the songs. You will not regret buying any of these Rock N Learn DVDs, we have 4 of them, and I just ordered another 3. Visit the Rock N Learn designer website to find out which product is age appropriate for your child and any child you may think could benefit. They have products from age 3-10 years old. Just make sure you buy a Rock N Learn DVD that is age appropriate. If there are any teachers, or school board trustees out there consider using or recommending them to parents. The publishers of this series have not done a good job of promoting them (I don't think) because a month ago was the first time I heard of this series and I spend quite a bit of time on the internet researching educational products for my 4 year old.

Great series!
I am a special education teacher and my kiddos hear this everyday. Parents are telling me at home they are singing the songs as well.

Meets intent
I have triplets, two girls and a boy, 3 1/2 years old. My son is completely engrossed, the girls only seem interested in the musical bits. It is a bit painful to sit and watch this with your kids... I advise a tall rum and cola. I felt that some of the content was too advanced for my kids, however, I took them to a museum today and all three were sounding out new words I told them... 'River, ra ra... R!' They are sounding out words that are new, words I know weren't in the video. Pretty clear they picked up some concepts. I bought two more videos, we will see how they are. 5 stars for meeting intent, but I have to drop one, I think the armadillo thing is creepy. None of my kids like him.I think the biggest mistake parents make is expecting a video to magically teach your kids to read. This video does not do that, nor will any video. It teaches concepts of sounding out words, which will likely help advance reading skills. But the bottom line is: get a book and read with your kids if you want them to read. It worked for your parents.

The kids love the music
I use this in my kindergarten classroom every day. I’m able to just go to the main menu quickly and choose one (5min) section to show each day. The kids love the music. It’s a quick, fun way to review blending sounds. My only complaint is that one section has an odd accent on the short a sound (fan, van) It’s not all the way through the video, just one of the games. (I’m from the north east. Maybe other areas wouldn’t notice;-)

Educational for toddler
It goes to fast for my soon to be 3 year old grandchild. Slower would be much better.

Great Video for Tots
I bought several educational videos for my son at 2.5 years old. He loves both this video and the Rock & Learn Colors, Shapes and Counting. He knows all his letters and their sounds and is already trying to sound words out when we are reading together. I will often catch him saying the sound of a letter and a corresponding word to himself anytime he sees a letter or just in play, singing letters and sounds. Highly recommend this video!
