Great for keto
I use these as an ingredient in a keto soup and it’s wonderful. I tried following the instructions Lupin posted on here, but mine were still rock hard. I found that if I soak them over night and then boil them with salt for a couple hours, they come out beautifully.

BE PREPARED TO COOK THESE TASTY BEANS A VERY LONG TIME - Low-Carbers will rejoice
Because there are no instructions on the package and only one suggestion for preparation of lupin splits on a competitor's website that does not work, I decided to figure this out on my own. I already knew from comments on the web that it was going to take a lot longer than an hour on the stove. So I took the issue to my Instant Pot. At first I tried a recipe for cooking dried beans and that wasn't even close to what these little hard splits needed. So I just kept cooking them 1 hour at a time.So here's what I found in my experiment in the Instant Pot:2.5 cups of water and 1 cup lupin splits and 2 tablespoons of coconut oil -1 hour they are still crunchy,2 hours they have the texture of black soybeans in a can.3 hours they have the texture of the harder lentils.4 hours they become more like soft lentils.Rinse them to remove the sliminess if you want to put them in a stew, soup or chili. If you want more of a mashed bean texture like refried beans or some Indian dishes, add a couple tablespoons of coconut flour to the slimy juice (I put too much and had to add a little water). The slimy totally disappears and it was like I was eating mashed lentils! I was super surprised how well that method worked to create a very nice mashed lentil-like meal. I used them to create my favorite, very missed dish: Lemon Dahl. It was so perfect it was like I actually had lentils back! The last photo is of this dish. Also, I loved the smell as they cooked and the taste when they were done. Some final words: I'm pretty sure that cooking them in a stove-top pressure cooker would be similar, maybe a little longer times. However, I'd not recommend cooking them on the stove in a pan because you'd need to use a lot of water and give it constant attention so it wouldn't run out of moisture and burn. Someone else here recommends soaking them overnight and then boiling them. That could be more manageable. If you want to use that method, you plan farther ahead than me.I gave them only 4 stars because of the length of time it takes to cook, and because I did get some gassiness, but that could have been because of the spices in the dish.

Bugs / Worms in the beans packet
Opened the bag and put some beans to soak and saw dead small bugs rise to the surface - so disgusting. I then decided to check the packet itself within the dry beans and was able to see / identify other small dead bugs. The quality control at this place doesn't seem to be meeting FDA standards. We are fans of Lupin beans - however would not recommend buying this brand or from this seller.

Awesome!
So happy to find sweet lupini! These are an amazing source of protein and very tasty. While another reviewer indicated that these are not lupin, that’s incorrect. these are “sweet lupin” which is why you don’t need to soak them for days on end. They are exactly as advertised. Thanks!

Last bag was disappointing
Normally these come as true splits - that is halves. This last bag was crumbles- some so small they were like meal or flour rather than splits. Taste is ok, but if I wanted coarse ground lupin I would have ordered it. I needed a split pea substitute and this isn't it.,this time

Still requires multiple rinsing to get out the skin
The product had many problems. Too many shafts and debris in the beans. Difficult to separate out the shafts out of washed beans.

Australian Sweet Lupin Splits
The Sweet Lupin Splits from Australia are Angustifolius and NOT Albus.Albus are the lupins shown in the picture and are bitter while the Angustifolius is the new Australian Lupin split that has been dehulled and it is sweet. My recommendation is to research a product well before making ignorant statements and conclusions. These Lupins make the best Hummus. They are not acidic like garbanzo beans. They do not create gas like other beans. Benefits that need to be considered when consuming beans or pulses especially for vegetarians who also need the protein that the Lupins offer.
