Wald1372 Front Basket: Gloss Black; MD

In the past I thought of Wald baskets as heavy and clunky, not something I'd want on my bike. I've changed, but Wald also upped their game. I'm happy with my 1372 basket. The basket and hardware are heavy, but they're strong. Every part can be aligned perfectly. The result looks good. No rattles.The parts bag has instructions, brackets, two M6 bolts, six M5's w/captive stars, and hex nuts (8mm/M5). The hex nuts do not have nylon inserts. Pieces are steel and appear to be zinc-plated. I put thread locker on all bolts.Basket and struts are nicely powder-coated. I moved the coated tabs along the basket wires to achieve a better fit, exposing unpainted metal.The original Wald 137 (still available) has a better clamp for small-diameter handlebars. But then you don't get the adjustable legs.

Looks great. Craftsmanship is great. Sturdy and ready for adventure.

Great looking basket, the black doesn't stand out and detract from the look of the bike, I like the way it looks. I am glad I went with this size, because the large and the giant would have just been too much. I definitely noticed an effect on handling with any real weight in it, but it is great with lighter items, and can handle a heavier load when necessary, just know that it can introduce a tendency to wander into the front wheel. The basket by itself does not affect steering while on the move, but the front wheel will want to rotate to one side or the other when you go to park your bike.This Wald 1372 is much better than the 137. They are the same exact basket, but the legs are much better on the 1372; they are adjustable, while the ones on the 137 are one length. I think they are about the same cost, so I suggest going with this one.UPDATE: After a few days, I wanted to say that I have been carrying some 10-15 lb loads in the basket and it handles it just fine, as long as the load is roughly centered and secured down, handling is not a problem. The basket does feel different the first time you use it, but I got used to it very quickly, and love having it.Update 2: After several months, I think this thing is great. It really helps to get it adjusted right; as low and rearward toward the head tube/stem as possible. I have carried well over 20 lbs, but no more than 10 is optimal.

Great front basket. It's well built and looks strong enough for it's size.

I love this basket! Not only was it simple to install, the extra hardware gave me piece of mind I could get this to fit my Bike's Direct Gravity (2015) Fat Tire Bike. Turns out I probably didn't need the extra length, but it did allow me to double up the struts and improve it's rigidity, which is nice. I've taken a photo of the front of my bike to give everyone a more visual idea of how wide this thing is. It's perfect for me, but going one size up may be what most people want it. And yes, that is EL wire I wrapped around it and some serious LED action!

Hardware seemed well made, unfortunately Amazon sent me a package without an actual basket itself in it. I’ve had experience with the basket itself before and can attest to its quality, so I’ll still rate it five stars even though I’ll be needing to get a replacement sent to me.
