I learned about this series when visiting family and saw that my 6 yr old grandson had two (of the 9) books in the series. His mother liked them as they didn't have offensive words (like fart and poop and snot and other stuff that so many young people's books seem to have these days. It is male-centered in a world (it seems) of books geared to girls these days -- and the male-figure ones are outlandish in wording and bodily-function jokes. The main character is a boy mouse and the adventures are fun for young boys who want to be a hero of sorts in a simple life. The Mighty Robot is the hero but his owner is 'the little boy mouse'. Fun for adults to read out loud and many simple words so young readers can want to read them too. At first my grandson was disappointed that the 'new' books were a reprint edition of the ones he had but then he realized that the pages were thicker, the graphics cooler and now he wants new books of the two he already had (which he found a a used books store/thrift store). Even the older edition books he read at the library had torn pages (thin newsprint pages). So he agreed the new books would work out just fine. He was super surprised that his grandmother was able to find all the books he was missing (the other 7) and they arrived a few days into her trip - lots of time left to read them all. Review: We love this series!! - My son (9) isn't a big reader but he loves this series. This is the first series he's completes. He did all 9 books in it 2 months. Pictures are fun. Words printed largers. It's as if they were written just for him. There's potions, robots, dinosaurs, science and friendships.

Get hardcover
Bought the first seven books in paperback. The papers fell apart soon afterward. This time we got in hardcover. It seen to be stronger binding than the other books. After almost two months, the book was read almost every night and it was still in good condition. Spend extra money it will be worthy if you have little one that likes to help turn the pages.

Harder than the other books
As with the other Ricky Ricotta's books we have enjoyed this but it's a very similar length as the other books but done in fewer chapters. Which means the chapters are a lot longer with a lot more reading. It seemed to be more frustrating to my son than the others. Still a good book and still enjoy the series just wanted to give others a heads up.

Kids love it!
I bought this book for my nephew and he absolutely loved it. He also loves all the Ricky Ricotta's books. The graphics are very attractive and the action in the books captures my 9 year-old's attention.

Worth the wait!
Started the series in kindergarten, and very happy to receive the newest installment. We preordered it. Any book that my son tears out of my hands upon delivery to read (and I can hear is continuing to read out loud in his room after bedtime) gets 5 stars from me. Worth the wait!

Great Story, Binding Needs Work
Our 8 year old LOVES the Mighty Robot series! Our only problem is the binding- the books tend to fall apart, a page slips out...then another...then you have a frustrated 8 year old. We have the entire series and it has happened with nearly every book. BUT, we LOVE the stories!

8 year old approves!
My son loves these books and discovered them when he was 8, he has all of them now except for the newer one. Perfect for beginning and intermediate readers. Love the colors and story.
