Great product, but beware of chipping paint!
This travel mug is fantastic for its designed purpose: transporting coffee to and from work in your bag without any leaks, whilst keeping it warm for a number of hours. I haven't timed it, but I can still drink the coffee into the early afternoon. It's easy to keep clean. When I get home, I pour away any coffee, open up the lid and put both the lid and the body in the top rack of the dishwasher. If you prefer a coloured body, please know that those aren't dishwasher safe, despite sometimes being advertised as such! Contigo's products only major flaw in my eyes is that the paint tends to chip or peel away. I like the look of the black one but went with the plain stainless steel because of the convenience of the dishwasher. When it comes to hand washing, get a good bottle brush and you should be grand.I don't necessarily think this would be suitable for using different types of drink, though. Coffee oils are absorbed into the plastic lid, which means no matter how often and well you clean it, some of that lingering coffee smell remains in the lid. I've not tried it with tea or another type of hot drink, but have a feeling it may leave a faint coffee taste.

Does what it says on the tin (cup!)
I'd already bought a flip-top lid cup by this brand (it was on offer, so it was worth a punt) which I used for water, and was thoroughly impressed by how long as much ice as can fit inside would last, especially as I keep pouring fizzy water over it. The current record of at least one cube able to chink against the inside of the mug is just shy of 9 hours - gone midnight! During a heatwave! Obviously, this brand has thoroughly impressed me.I have a disability which leaves me only able to sit on my bed for the majority of the day, and I have an annoying habit of dropping my coffee. Obviously, this can be a tad painful, not to mention messy and expensive (dry cleaning... Yeesh). I didn't want to use my water cup, so I looked up different styles of "small-t thermos" mugs by this brand. Saw that this one not only has a leakproof lid like the other, but it shuts if you're not holding it open. It's not cheap, but after being so pleased with the first mug, I got it.Yes, my shaky hand has tested it, and yes, it's perfect! What's also great about this brand is that unlike a typical flask, it's metal inside, not glass, which is even better for such a klutz like me.I had to go out the other day in the morning (still during the heatwave) and wasn't sure if I'd want my water or a strong coffee as I was going to be waiting for someone for over an hour. Packed both in my bag right next to each other (drank from both in the end), and got home with some cold water & hot coffee still totally inside their own cups, not as much as a drip from either in my bag - a "sling over your shoulder" type bag, so I wasn't being careful - and no "temperature sharing" between them as I've had from the cheap, plastic (though very functional to be fair) lidded mugs I've had for years. The only thing you need to be aware of is there will probably be a couple of ml of liquid sitting on top of the "lock" which covers the hole you drink out of. A quick sip after shutting the lid sorts it out.I know that this isn't a cheap option, but it's the cheap options which have let me down in the past. Given how often I needed to replace them because the "hatch" which slides to cover the hole loses its ability to make a good seal, this is turning out to be very much worth its cost if only for that. The fact that I have dozed off for a few hours after making a coffee, and woken to a still hot drink is fantastic. I've even deliberately made a drink around 12am for when I'd had to get up at 6. Definitely was still hot enough to drink! Though I wouldn't leave coffee longer due to its own deteriorating quality of taste over time, but that's just personal taste and nothing to do with the mug. It's not *as* hot as on making, obviously, but definitely drinkable - and be cautious with the first sip because it might surprise you with how hot it might be!I honestly couldn't be happier! I even love the burgundy colour :D(And no, I promise I don't work for them!)

A very nice flask, but not quite as effective as the West Loop
I bought this not to replace, but to compliment the stainless-steel West Loop that I’ve been using for about 4 years now. As a very regular coffee drinker, my old flask has been everywhere with me in that time and had gotten a little worse for wear. It now leaks slightly at the lid when not kept upright, due to a dent it sustained in a heavy drop. I was always blown away by the ability of the West Loop to keep coffee hot for so long. I will often buy or make a cup of coffee, then take several hours to drink it as I’m constantly distracted. With my old West Loop, I consistently get 4+ hours of heat retention. I can make myself a cup of coffee at lunch time and end up finishing it off on my way home after 5pm, at which point it’s still warm enough to drink. But this is a review about the Luxe, so what’s the difference and why have I only given it 4 stars? Well, it’s the lid. On the West Loop, the lid is entirely plastic, and plastic is a very good insulator. On the Luxe, the lid is partially stainless-steel, and this has the effect of conducting heat out of the flask into the surrounding environment. If the lid is in contact with the liquid (for example, when it’s lying on its side in a backpack) you can actually feel the heat transferring to the lid and it’ll be warm, whilst the double walled body of the container is still cool to the touch. This happened with the plastic lid of the West Loop as well, but not to anywhere near the same extent. In the real world, this seems to knock the heat retention time of the Luxe down by about 60-90 minutes depending on use and environment.I’m not saying it’s a bad flask, far from it. The Luxe has a much sleeker design than the West Loop, and I actually think the new profile of the lid is an improvement that makes it easier to drink from on the go. The auto seal lock has a much more positive “click” as well compared to my 4-year-old West Loop, although that might be due to age related wear and tear rather than a change in the design. All in all, I really like both of them, and the Luxe will still replace the West Loop as my on the go flask for carrying hot drinks. But if you want to keep your drink hot for as long as possible, the trusty West Loop is undoubtedly the better option.

Great locking system
It almost holds a 500ml bottle of water.Great lid that keeps the straw clean and a brilliant locking device which means it can't be accidentally opened in your bag.Keeps my water at my ideal temperature and great for hiking with the dog, I just unscrew the lid and pour into the dog bowl so she can have a cool drink too.Doesn't leak and looks great.
