Amazing texture
It’s worth it! I’m a professional artist but I’m cheap, so I resisted spending more for this paper for a long time. But now that I’ve tried it, I’m a big fan! It has such a nice texture to it. I’ve used it for watercolors and color pencils with fabulous results from both. I’ve glued it to hardboard backing and it doesn’t warp. Watercolor seemed to react a touch differently than the more textured watercolor paper, so it might take a slight adjustment to get used too. But that’s what happens when you go from cheap to good quality!

Quality Colored Pencil Paper
Very good paper for colored pencil art. It was recommended by an artist on Skillshare. It is fairly smooth and the color goes on evenly.

Obviously Great!
Your watercolors will never look the same on other papers ;-) It's a lovely buy (and there was no damage in the shipping). The only thing to highlight is that the paper is not bright white, which I do prefer. But the colors come out lovely anyway and the paper has not buckled with my washes. 100% cotton is where it's at with the watercolor.

Perfect Paper
Arches Hot Pressed 140lb/300gsm watercolor paper has quickly become my go-to. It’s wonderfully durable and showcases color beautifully, with a surface that’s an absolute delight to paint on. I make my own watercolor paints, including pigments derived from rock, earth, and sand, and I’ve struggled to find a hot pressed paper that truly works with the natural grain and behavior of those materials. I'd avoided Arches because of the price, but finally gave in, and it's worth every penny. This paper solved my problem completely. The paint flowed exactly how I wanted it to, allowing for precise movement and an ability to layer like never before. If you’re looking for a high-quality hot pressed paper that handles unique or handmade paints exceptionally well, I highly recommend this. I’ll definitely be purchasing more.

My favorite hot press watercolor paper
In my book, for fine detailed watercolor work, this paper has no weakness and is aces. It's also great for colored pencil work. The only thing worth noting is that the paper tends to be bigger than the specs, just enough that it usually need trimming to fit in a frame that matches the paper size. In other words, if you use a 10 x 14 pad and buy a 10 x 14 frame, you'll very likely need to trim the paper.

100% Cotton makes a big difference
Received this order quickly and undamaged. This is a pad of paper attached at the top, not a block that is attached on all sides. I greatly prefer 100% cotton over the less expensive standard paper. I recommend that before you start painting you tear off a page, run it under the faucet for a minute, and then let it completely dry. This helps the fibers to relax, and you will get much less buckling if you paint with generous amounts of water. Cotton also holds up better when you do a little rubbing or scrubbing. This version of Arches paper is Hot Press which means it is very smooth and does not have the texture of Cold Press. Hot Press is helpful for painting detail and getting fine control of edges.

Have been working with a lot of different papers through the years and I consider “Arches” as one of the staples in the art of paper making. I used different grains and sizes of their watercolour papers and was always super happy with the results. Absolutely valid for other projects than watercolouring.
