Before each song is an exceptional write up explaining all sorts of techniques used by Paul Simon to get the incredible sound that he achieves as a guitarist/musician/composser/etc. Paul Simon is in my top two singer/composers. And what staying power. The guy is in his 70's and still puts out the best music. I have just started using this book and have found it to be pretty easy to use, though it is technically pretty challenging. If you can read tabliture and/or music, you will do well with this book.

This is a great book, it includes the music in both notation and tab. The transcriptions are perfect, they are exactly what is on the recording. The best part about the book is that for each song, there is a page or two describing how to finger each chord (some of the songs are really hard to play if you use "normal" fingering, if you use the alternate fingering he suggests, you can do the chord switches MUCH easier!) Using this book, I had Bookends and Scarborough Fair down in two days! The only thing preventing me from giving this book a 5 : It had some songs I didn't know, and was missing two songs I really wanted : The Boxer, and Sounds of Silence.

The selections are great and the author's explanations and introductions add a lot to the "lessons". You can sink your teeth into this book and come out with some very satisfying time spent with your guitar.

I recommend it. I'm learning a lot from this book.

He provides detailed instructions for finger styling these songs. They are not easy but it's fun to work through them. I haven't found another book that's quite the same

The tabulature for these songs could have been more interesting - basically a "transcription" of the cords from Simon to guitar tabs. No interpretation or much variation to enhance the voicings. But the title does say "transcribed" and that's basically what I got.

Daar waar de meeste fingerpincking uitgaven niet zozeer de begeleiding geven als wel de melodie vertaald voor gitaar, staat hier de originele begeleiding helemaal uitgeschreven. Niet makkelijk, wel heel uitdagend en ontzettend fijn dat dit boek er is. Wou dat er meer van dit soort uitgaven bestonden....

Tablatura e pentagramma molto dettagliati e corredati di informazioni utili ad una riproduzione fedele dei brani. Eccellente la scelta dei pezzi.
