Kathryn, Arnica montana is the Latin name for a perennial that grows 1 to 2 feet tall with bright, yellow daisy-like flowers that appear in July and August. It is found on the moist, grassy upland meadows in the hills and mountains of northern and central Europe and Siberia. It is also found sparsely in the northwestern United States. More common names for Arnica are Mountain daisy, Leopard's bane and Mountain tobacco. St. Hildegard, a nun known for her keen observation of nature and physiology, among other things, wrote about the healing properties of the Arnica montana plant in the 12th century. Since at least the 16th century, mountain people in the Alpine area have used it to relieve muscle aches and bruises.

What is typically pre-surgery dosing and frequency?

Within 30 minutes before surgery and shortly after surgery or when I am conscious again if I have general anesthesia. The worse the pain and/or swelling, the more frequently I take it. Usually every two-three hours the first two days, reducing the frequency over the next few days. It really helps with pain, swelling and speeding healing.

Is there lactose in these tablets ?

Hi, on the narrow side of the Arnicare box is written: one of the inactive ingredients is lactose. I assume it means that it has lactose. You can check their website for clarification.

Must have for wisdom teeth removal

My daughter had her wisdom teeth removed on Friday, and by Saturday her swelling and bruising were getting worse. I ended up overnighting these tablets along with the topical ointment. She woke up this morning (Sunday) with bruising starting under her eyes and across her cheeks. She took 2 tablets at 10am, 2 at 11am, 2 at 12pm, and we used the topical throughout the day. By 5pm, the difference was honestly shocking. Her swelling had gone down dramatically, and the bruises that were forming are now barely visible. (see pics). One of my favorite things about these tablets is that they’re gentle on the stomach and NSAID-free. My only regret is not starting them sooner. Knowing what I know now, I would’ve had her take the arnica tablets on Thursday, again on Friday before surgery, and then daily afterward. We’ll be keeping these on hand from now on for any surgery prep, bruising, swelling, or pain. Absolutely worth it.

Helped with my healing after lipo

It works on burns and bruises

I use this mainly for bruises because I bruise easily. My doctor recommends it for burns also. Just follow the directions on how many tablets to take and how often and it will speed up the healing process. The tablets dissolve quickly and easily under your tongue. They might have a chalky texture, but they do not have any bad taste. Highly recommend.

Got diarrhea from it

I gave it a 3 star because I got diarrhea from the tablets! BUT I also got the gel form and it works magic !! My bruises usually last weeks and I have a big bruise on the side of my arm from the car door and started using the gel and it’s only been the 3rd day and it’s already starting to go away! I was super surprised. So the tablets I won’t use again but the gel is a must have!
