Nice
A bit less portable than the old one but I like the fact that I can keep everything mostly assembled and in the bigger case. Worth the sacrifice IMO. Not a fan of heavier fixture but love the brightness and the ballast is great.

Broke after 3 months - right when product support ended
We bought 2 of these units and now 2 full rows of daylight LEDs on one of the panels stopped working 3 months after we bought it. Now the product support window has closed and we're stuck with a semi functioning light along with another one that works ok but no longer matches the output of the other.

Versatile Light - Nice Improvements
I have owned the previous model of this light (Falcon Eyes RX-24TDX) for two years and also own a pair of Aputure 300D IIs so my review will be comparing this new model to the other lights in my kit.OVERVIEWDifferent jobs and scenarios require different kinds of lights. These are the main reasons I use this light and are what I would consider the main selling points for me:VersatilityBecause it is flexible and lightweight I can gaff tape this light to a wall or ceiling, cram it into nooks and crannies, arm it way out on a boom arm for backlight, power it off a V-Mount battery in the middle of nowhere, or I can put the softbox on and/or shoot it through a 6'x6' diffusion and use it as the main key light for a scene or interview. Because of it's 2'x2' size and the softness of light when used with the softbox, it also makes for a very flattering light for my YouTube videos that I film in my office.Bi-ColorWhen I'm shooting on location especially for documentary or corporate B-ROLL shoots, it's great to have a light where I can quickly dial in the color temperature to most closely match whatever random location I'm in without having to carry a full library of gels with me.PortabilityEverything fits into a lightweight carrying bag that I can store in my office or just throw in the car with a regular light stand, no heavy duty cases or stands needed.RX-24TDX II vs. RX-24TDXThere are several improvements to this light that I enjoy, the first of which is the bag it comes in. While it's not the most organized carrying case - you roll the LED panel around the included padded divider, slide it into the bag, and then put all the odds and ends down the middle and zip it up - everything fits easily and fully packed it's lightweight and easy to fit anywhere in the car. The original bag (which it looks like they have since upgraded as well) had no padding, everything BARELY fit, and after a few years of use had completely fallen apart, so I have higher hopes for this bag.The build quality of the light overall has improved. The panel itself now is much more rigid - the backing feels like it's made out of a heavy duty flexible vinyl type of material (the old one was just cloth) and the front has a firmer, waterproof clear cover over the LED lights. Some of the LEDs on my old version are starting to go out and I think it's because they're way less protected by the front and back coverings and were damaged by being pinched or squashed under other gear in my car. Overall, I think this new, more durable design will lengthen the life of this light significantly, the only drawback is that the light isn't as flexible now and it's definitely heavier, so I'm unsure if it will make it harder stay taped to a ceiling for example. The ballast has also been redesigned with a simple and intuitive interface - basically you hit one of the four buttons to engage that mode (Brightness, Color Temperature, Function, Channel) and then use the wheel to scroll through the increments or menu. I think this new design will cause it to functionally last longer because there's less moving parts, but I do miss not having Brightness and Color Temperature on their own manual knob for quick, no-look adjustments on location (However, one of the knobs on my old light doesn't function properly anymore from wear and tear so I have to use the touch buttons to increase Brightness). One of the drawbacks of using any type of LED flexlight is all of the gak. Because the light is designed to be flexible, lightweight, and used anywhere you can bend it, cram it, tape it, etc. that means the ballast and power supply are all separate instead of all being neatly designed into the actual lamp (which usually makes those type of LED panel lights 10-25lbs). However, I was happy that they tweaked the design here, too which makes keeping things tidier easier. Included in the light is a clamp with a V-Lock receiver that you mount to anywhere on your stand. The ballast has a V-Mount on the back for powering with a battery AND also has an additional V-Lock receiver on the side so you can attach the power supply via its velcro strapped V-Mount to the side of it. Yes, that's a lot of V-Mounts, but that's a good thing because you can essentially connect everything together in a very secure manner that will tidy up the gak significantly (you can still choose to hang the ballast via the built in wire as well). Also, one really great feature is that the cable that connects the light to the ballast is just over 9' long, so even if you're putting the light way up high or booming it way out, it's still easy to have the ballast controls somewhere where you can easily reach. There are now FX scenes programmed into the menu (like lighting, tv screen, etc.), but to be honest I rarely use those features that seem to come with all new lights now. However, it's good to know that they're there in case you do need them.RX-24TDX II vs. Aputure 300D IIObviously not an apples to apples comparison here, but since these are the other lights I own and use often I thought it'd be worth comparing them based on my experience with both. The 300D II is almost always my first choice for creating a key light for interviews or commercials. I often combine two of them with a 6'x6' diffusion to create a large, soft source of light and will use the RX-24TDX II as a backlight since it's so lightweight and easy to boom out behind the person. The 300D II is more powerful and more robust, but it's also heavier, can't change color temperature, and is almost twice the price.Because of the weight I almost always choose the RX-24TDX II over the Aputure any time I'm needing to light something overhead or if I need to boom in a backlight from off screen. I recently did this on a wide shot for a commercial at a restaurant which would have been unsafe, if not impossible to have pulled off with my Aputure light. While I use the 300D II to light interviews most of the time, I use the RX-24TDX most of the time for B-ROLL because it is a lot more versatile when filming on-location. Being able to have my assistant carry it around an office, restaurant, school, warehouse, etc. on a normal, lightweight light stand all day is so much faster and easier. As lighting changes from room to room I can have him quickly change the color temperature and brightness to match the surroundings and subtly enhance the scene without it looking unnatural or overproduced. Because these situations often just call for supplemental light I can run the light well below 100% and power it off of V-Mount batteries as well which makes moving around much quicker (and we don't have to worry about cables or extension cords limiting us or causing tripping hazards).CONCLUSIONOverall I really like the RX-24TDX II and am glad that I own it. The original RX-24TDX has been a very versatile and useful light for me that I have recommended to many over the years and I'm glad to have the updated and more durable "version II" in my kit now.

Great light.. crappy mount
Wonderful light and works great with v-mount batteries. The softbox is ok and the grid is decent. My big complaint is the terrible mount. It’s the issue with all lower-end products is the cost cutting in the mount. You cannot aim the light downwards at all. The tilt would only allow you to aim forward or up. I replaced it with a Matthews knuckle head which makes this a lot more versatile.

Very Specialized Light
The media could not be loaded. Really love how versatile this light is because it doesn't take much space in the studio and it does not disappoint with its output. This led light is very BRIGHT! The x bracket could be a bit hard to install from time to time but it does the job really well. The IPX8 rating is no joke. I tried some slow motion shot underwater for about 20 min and it worked really well! However, it's not as flexible as the other roll flex led I've seen due to better underwater performance. Overall, it does what it's intended to do such as underwater product photography and videography. There are also options to use a v mount battery for outdoor usage but keep in mind that the control box is not waterproof but besides that, this is an amazing led light to have!
