Mainstay` 71" 5-Shelf Standard Bookcase () (A Canyon Walnut, 71")

These bookcases are light-to medium-duty. Because of their height and multi-piece construction, they are not stable for heavy loads (i.e., shelves full of hard-backed books) or for being moved frequently. The top and bottom are held together tenuously by a pair of glorified cardboard thin rear panels which are only overlapped a fraction of an inch in the middle - not sturdy construction - and of course the side, top and bottom panels are particle board. They look good, they serve a purpose, but if you expect quality construction at this price point you are fooling yourself.

Send back and did not re order because it was so heavy and damaged

I bought 2 of these from this seller and 1 from another and I’m overall satisfied! They have some issues but I mean, hey, its a cheap particle board bookshelf, my expectations weren’t exactly soaring lol. It holds books and was only slightly irritating to put together, so I’d say it’s a win.I will say, it had scratches/spots where the faux finish rubbed off from poor packing in the box in any spot where the shelf pieces overlapped. I included pictures in case this is a deal breaker for anyone. The shelves pictured are the adjustable shelves you add in last, for the record. That seemed to be consistently how they were packed in all 3 of the ones I ordered.For the main part with the way I was going to use them, these would either be covered up by stuff so I decided to just deal with it.I will say be careful putting on the backing; def nail in the 4 corners first so it stays in place, there isn’t a lot of room and I could see how one could easily get too close to the edge and have a nail poking out.

Fits the kids toys and my cloths great. Strong shelves and tall enough to store my suitcases on top.
