Firstmate Pet Foods Cat Food, 16-1/2-Pound

So it wasn't my original intention to feed my cats something I had to special order. Not because I don't want to feed them quality food (I've tried Ziwi Peak, Innova, Natural Balance and a variety of other "premium" brands) but because it's nice to be able to buy stuff locally and pick it up whenever you run out. But both of our kitties managed to have digestive issues, one with corn, beans of all types and possibly wheat; the other with peas and inulin (which has suddenly become an ingredient in practically everything). They also insist on eating out of the same bowl. Of course. Anyway, this food has none of those things in it and as a bonus the remarkably short ingredient list made it super easy to check for the offending ingredients. After the switch, not only did the aforementioned issues resolve but we also noticed our male feline became much friendlier and relaxed. Can't ask for much more than that! Great food in my opinion and the price is reasonable for the quality.

Good ingredients, made in Canada,...I use this for my feral cats for nutrition and to hoipefully prevent urinary tract problems. Urinary tract issues are very serious and can lead to death if not treated. Keep in mind, if your cat has been diagnosed with a urinary tract disease, then you'd need to switch to a prescription diet (Royal Canin Urinary SO) or whatever your veterinary recommends. I trust First Mate Cat Food.

So convenient having the food delivered to my door! I have 3 adult outdoor cats. One has had problems with his hair falling out even though I fed him a famous premium food. Our Vet said it is allergies, but I felt his symptoms suggested it was hyperactive thyroid. I bought 1 bag of First Mate and all 3 cats thinned down, got shiny hair, and the hair is growing back on the one with problems. It was too good to be true, because now I come back to purchase more and I find the price has DOUBLED:(

I'm sure the food is fine...but our cats did not like it.No reflection on the quality, just the taste.

They won't eat it, but they are finicky! Worth a try.
