Works great and puts out heat
Going on our second winter now. Had to put in a stainless steel chimney insert first. That turned out to be a project. That install was much harder than I expected. The fireplace insert is a beast. It came well packaged and it is heavy. Luckily we talked the delivery men into bringing it up to our back patio where we were planning on bringing it into the house. It would have been a huge struggle for my wife and I to do it. We unpacked it and everything was intact with no damage. We couldn't carry it into the house so we stripped it down and rolled it into the house on some short PVC pipes I had. That worked fine and didn't tear up my new wood floors. We got it into place and hooked everything up. Our fireplace isn't very big so there wasn't much room to get the stainless steel insert hooked on and the insulation around the old flue area. Once we got everything hooked up and into the right place we installed the door and the bricks. We broke it in with some small fires as the directions requested. We have been using it all last winter and some already this winter and we love it. We use it almost every nite when it's cold. It puts out a decent amount of heat for it's size and heats our living room up so it's nice and warm. The furnace rarely runs when we have a fire going. It does get some heat to our upstairs too but not that much in the rest of the house. Our living room is about 15 X 20 so it's decent sized. We would get better heating if we installed a small fan to blow the heat away from the fireplace area. We have been happy for now. The fan on the insert itself does a decent job blowing heat out but our fireplace is on the end of our livingroom so it tends to stay the warmest there. The fan does make some noise (we always have it on the highest setting when burning wood). You can dial it down lower to where you can hardly hear it but we don't mind the fan noise, it's not super loud or obnoxious. If the TV is on you really can't hear the fan much anyway. My wife loves starting up a fire and it's great that you can watch it burn through the insert window. So it's the best of both worlds. It starts up pretty easy and haven't had any real issues with it smoking up the house. We use paper, pine cones, and smaller wood to get it started and it's easy going after that. It's great to have a usable fireplace (ours really wasn't before this) that looks great and puts out quite a bit of heat for it's size. We are very happy with it so far.

Great quality
Purchased the Ashley Wood Stove insert for our living room dining room area of 920 sq ft and it does the job to heat up the space. I had it installed today and started using it immediately. The stove upon heating up had smoke from the chimney then the smoke stopped once the stove was hot and the secondary burn is working. I am very happy with the Ashley stove insert. I had a certified Chimney company install it and they did a phenomenal job getting the liner thru the chimney. The stove looks nice too!

It doesn’t he and leaks smoke
Don’t waste your money. You can fit maybe three or four logs in it but within two hours, you have to put more in period to feel the heat. You have to actually be in front of it, even with the blower on. Sometimes smoke comes out of the side and even out of the door when it’s shut and it’s supposed to be airtight. The damper broke within the first month and the company told me how to fix it, but it still doesn’t always work. Definitely not worth the money and barely heats the downstairs of my raised ranch never mind the rest of the house. I tell my company to wear longjohns when they come over and that’s with the bedroom doors shut.

I like this little insert a lot!
I've used this now for one winter and I'm very happy with it because it does what I bought it for! I read the specifications carefully and knew what I was buying. This little insert is not going to perform like a $4K big-name insert. It's small! That's what I wanted because of the size of my firebox and it fit in there perfectly. I do have to add wood frequently and it does not last all night. That's fine with me because I got this just for the ambiance and for some additional warmth to make my living room cozy in the evenings. If you want an insert to be your primary heat source for a 1200 sq ft house, then this is not for you. Pay some more money and get a bigger/better one. I have not had the hinge problem that others mentioned. The blower works perfectly. The unit arrived in a box, on a pallet and was not damaged.

It Is fabulous.
I used to use my old house fireplace, I burned 100 pounds firewood but couldn't keep room over 66F. Over two days hard work by myself, I installed new chemney liner and the insert, now no more than 10 pounds wood, I can have my house over70F

Reasonable Quality for the cost.
Reasonable quality, well packaged for shipping. Heats nicely however fan is a little loud but not distracting. Have used it for about a month with no issues. Installation was fairly easy but it is heavy. For the price it is a good value, sad it’s made in China but nothing else is comparable in the price range.
