Can be used on Windows
This was cheaper than the Windows version but the file system can be deleted and recreated to support NTFS using the Disk Management utility on Windows. Without this, the drive won't even show up.

Excellent external hard drive with huge storage capacity. The 4TB space is more than enough for backups, videos, photos, and work files. Transfer speed is fast and stable, and the drive works perfectly with my laptop. Very reliable product from WD.

A well trusted brand. Easy setup and use, with useful features like password protection. Quality build, though slightly on heavy side for the 5TB Mac version.

It wasn't working 1st one. Keep disconnecting and very slow to transfer files. Returned and received replacement in 4 days. It is very fast and stable. Very good product. I recommend it.

A very handy passport to have and store extra files in a mobile fashion

I bought this drive to take along with me on a 2-week trip, where I would be storing plenty of photo and video data. I'm paranoid about losing data, so I want to keep extra copies. The 5TB size meant that I didn't have to worry about storage space at all. I could save raw photos and uncompressed video on this drive to take home and process after my trip. It has a USB-C connector, so no need for adapters or dongles on newer Mac devices. I used it with a newer MacBook Pro. The speed is acceptable, considering that this isn't an SSD -- it's a spinning hard drive. I was able to get around 100 MB/s read and write speed -- see attached screenshot. So in a pinch, this could be a drive for working as well as storage. Good value for the money.
