Especially necessary for older buildings
While I love where I live, some issues with my apartment are age-related and are difficult to take care off. Vent Assist Floor Register Vent Cover is taking care of one of my problems. For years now I’ve purchased & installed my own, much more expensive furnace air filters to assure better air quality with mixed results. As another reviewer mentioned, there is this grayish, unexplainable dust on everything no matter how often I dust; my neighbors noted it too.Complete air duct cleaning is out of the question and I’m happy to have found these ingenious covers.Other companies offer simple sheets cut to size but they’re of no use to me as I’m using register fans to push cold/warm air through the vents, which keep my energy bills fairly reasonable. Each sheet is cut to size, the sticky Velcro (2 long, 2 short) is attached to each sheet which makes the whole installment super easy. It really is as it is shown in the short clip: dust off register cover, remove pre-cut strip from sheet, tape to side of register, repeat until all sides are covered, attach pre-cut sheet, return register cover to register vent. After installation I did not notice any changes in the airflow. With these covers I’m looking forward to cleaner air intake, less debris falling into the duct, easy change once time comes. These sheets are very reasonably priced and helpful to anyone living in apartments, especially older ones and the perfect way to control problems not fixed by the landlord. A must for apartment living!

Really work!!
These really work! They catch all debris falling into your vents if they are in the floor. I was shocked ! They are very easy to swap out with clean ones too!

So far, so good. (Update!)
Was “iffy” about this product in the beginning, because of how thick it is, and although it does weaken airflow, my room was still just as cold as before. I’m waiting for the ones for the living room to arrive, which are for bigger vents, and in a room closer to the thermostat, so anxious to see how long it takes for the larger areas to cool to desired temp before triggering the a/c to click off. If I notice it’s taking longer, resulting in costing me more money in electricity, may have to find a thinner alternative. Then again that just might be the cheaper cost to pay for better air quantity, opposed to changing out the entire system. Otherwise, so far so good. Also, I read a review that the filters make it hard to push back into place, which I like because it makes the vents fit more snug. Only gave 4 stars because it takes some time to separate the velcro from the clear backing. Had to take a blade to slightly cut and peel.Update! The filters have been great at filtering and that can be seen when you pull the vents out of the floor and can see the dust it has blocked. In the original review I mentioned that it does restrict air flow and that I would have to wait to see how it impacts how well it cool and heats the house to know if the filters are having a negative impact on my system, causing it to run longer, in turn costing me more money. Well here in this 2022 heat wave from hell I had no choice but to remove them, as this heat has been so intense that any air flow restriction is not acceptable, and has been causing my unit to run much longer than it should. Not to mention that my thermostat is located in a bad spot in the house that doesn’t have the greatest airflow. In the winter, the airflow was still restricted, but still kept the house warm, and colder weather mixed with heat and being able to throw on a sweater if needed, to conserve energy/money, is far more acceptable than a hot one.All in all the filters are great at doing their job and becomes a thing of comfort over health and how bad your situation is when it comes to allergens and how clean your ducts are. And if it’s that bad you may just need to have your system professionally cleaned. My home is an older one that needs more efficient windows and I’m sure that plays a part in my a/c unit issues. Saying that to say, in a newer more up to date home, you may not notice that big of a difference. So there are a lot of factors to consider when using these, with the biggest being your health.Kinda lengthy I know, but hopefully it helps.

It works but...
I ordered this item last year and loved it. I order more again this year and while the material looked to be the same, the filters in the package were considerably larger than the first time. This made it hard to actually fit them on my heat registers without having gaps. They also did not look professionally cut like the ones I ordered last year, but instead each side was uneven and looked as though cut by hand. The interior plastic was also thin and cheap and the adhesive was not as good to what I was replacing. The only thing that remained the same was the exterior packaging. It feels like the manufacturer just cut corners. It sucks when you save an item you really liked only to reorder (what you think will be) the exact same one and you receive an inferior version. I would have bought in bulk if I knew this.

Works!
Context:- have about 10 registers throughout house- some are 4x12 and some 4x10- have dust and debris coming out of a few of them (have tried vent cleaning but hasn’t worked and don’t have energy to do a full replacement of ducting at this time)Pros:- Airflow is good- easy to install- can easily cut 4x12 to fit 4x10 - they’re just flat pieces of filter and Velcro strips. Nothing fancyCons:- will be tough to slip registers back in if yours already fit tightlyTips:- make sure vents are fully opened before attaching filter and inserting into floor/wall - this will ensure you’ve left enough space to allow register to open / close freely- if you have diff size registers just buy the 4x12 and cut them down to fit 4x10 instead of buying multiple packs.

It’s works.
It’s not that difficult to install. Just be mindful that if your vent grate fit in the vent hole tightly, this filter might not work for you. It ruined one of my vent grate when I tried forcing it in after installing the vent filter.

Great but hard to remove the backing from the velcro.
Trying to remove the back of the Velcro strips is mission impossible. Otherwise a good product but those strips…yikes. I would have given it a 5-star rating if not for the difficulty removing the backing from the velcro strips.
