So far so good, hard to beat for the price.
I’ve been waiting for an inexpensive camera that uses HomeKit Secure Video to try out. I had pretty low expectations for this, but I honestly don’t know how it could be any better.I bought one to try out, mainly to keep an eye on my new puppy around the house. But now I’m considering buying a few more for security purposes in my three flat. The unit itself is tiny and seems pretty well made, the little articulated arm with a magnetic base is a nice touch that makes it pretty easy to put where you want it out of the box. I’ve run this off a rechargeable battery without issue, though primarily use it with the included wall plug. The picture quality is pretty good, in full light or night vision. I’m more impressed by the night vision, it is surprisingly clear and detailed. Yes, it’s not great overall, and you’ll see some significant smearing if there’s a lot of action in the field of view, but it’s more than sufficient for basic security purposes, and it’s just a trade off for being able to pull up the feed quickly and store clips efficiently.I didn’t even realize the camera had a microsd card slot, so I haven’t tried using that yet, but will soon! I also haven’t tried out the two-way-audio feature.Of course, this camera leverages HomeKit Secure Video, so the software is by Apple and is all very good. Pulling up a video feed on my Apple TV or Apple Watch is a neat trick, and very useful. The camera itself responds quickly to the software. The camera and HomeKit seem to do a good job recognizing motion, animals, and people. I usually have this pointed at my dog’s crate while she sleeps, and it will make a new clip whenever she changes position during the night, or if one of the cats appears in frame.I really can’t find fault with this thing. You can’t do better in this price range for a HomeKit camera, I hope they make a weather proof, and battery or solar powered option soon!

Homekit secure video works, except when it doesn't
The camera seems to be of high quality. Daytime video is pretty good; nighttime video is adequate. Pairing with Homekit could not be any easier. I have a temperature/humidity sensor and that works very well within range. The camera works directly with Home app (no need for Aqara app, but it does allow some extra functionality). My issue is with Homekit secure video support. I have two houses where I have tried one camera. Two different ISPs, two different Apple TVs used as hubs. At one location, HSV works great. Camera will go offline for maybe 5 minutes every couple days unexplained, but that is no problem for me. Clip triggering (e.g., people or animals) works great. At the other location, HSV is spotty if it works at all. If I am on the local network, live view always works fine. But remote viewing and saved clip viewing in Homekit only works rarely, which defeats my purpose for the camera. It is not a WiFi signal strength issue, and I have tried many different configurations with my router and WiFi and Apple TV hub. Pretty frustrating and I think I'm going to have to break down and contact support. If I could get HSV working consistently I would probably rate this 4 or 5 stars.Update: I think my Homekit Secure Video issues are with HSV itself based on similar responses I have seen online with other cameras. During my troubleshooting I reached out to Aqara support. Although we could not solve my issues, they were very responsive and helpful. I have upgraded my rating of this camera.

Works for Homekit Secure Video and aqara hub
It's hard to say whether the drawbacks are due to this product or the limitations of HKSV. I always prefer wired cameras, but it's not currently an option for homekit. As far as a wifi video camera goes, this one works fine. My placement behind a window, at an angle, is not a very good condition to check the video quality. But even with those limitations, the video is good enough for seeing the person at the door. The selectable zones for the motion sensor is really a homekit feature again, but it works well with this camera. So as a homekit camera, it's fine. I can't really complain or sing praises because the functionality is really dictated by Apple. But it's double use as a hub has proven to be pretty useful. I have the camera away from most of my other devices and hubs, so it could be useful where it is. I picked up the Aqara door sensor at the same time that needed an Aqara hub. It is very responsive, but it is also pretty close to the camera. I later picked up an Aqara light switch which is farther away from the camera/hub, and it works perfectly. These 3 are my first Aqara purchases and they work flawlessly. I've had a couple of instances where the door sensor delayed for a couple of seconds, but all other times (hundreds), it has worked instantly. I don't use the Aqara app at all and control everything through the homekit app. It's a little strange that the items aren't discovered as individual, stand alone devices, but the app shows them all as their own device. This makes sense since the hub is actually discovering them all.Aqara is moving up on my list of "good" homekit brands. It's nice to know there are other reliable ones out there besides Lutron. Aqara is better priced so it's a realistic option now. I'm starting to find that hub requiring devices are far more reliable than wifi devices. Requiring a hub is definitely a plus in my eyes, but with that, the hubs need to have a variety of compatible devices. Aqara is starting to move up on my list.

Great affordable HomeKit indoor camera
This 1080 P HD camera looks adorable and works well. It connects via Wi-Fi and records to a mini SD card. video can be viewed remotely through the Aqara app and HomeKit. Two way communication is possible although the sound from the speaker is not great. The camera functions as a hub so this is an easy way to start your Aqara collection. The magnetic base makes it easy to position.

No longer working after 9 months.
Worked really well for the first months. Unfortunately, the camera no longer works (can’t scan the QR code to connect to the wifi).

They Just Work
I own 5 of these Aqara G2H camera hubs. I’ve been buying them over time, with the fifth coming in the mail today.Overall, these cameras offer great value for the money. They have lots of features in the native Aqara app if you are so inclined to use it. They are easy to configure, and have worked for me in Apple HomeKit with HomeKit Secure Video flawlessly which is the sole reason I’ve been buying into the Aqara family. If buying for use with HomeKit, note that functionality is reduced when using with HomeKit which is a limitation of the Home app rather than the camera or the Aqara app itself. As I said, I have 5 of the G2H. From Aqara I also own 3 of the G3 camera hubs, 8 contact sensors with 2 more on the way, 4 water leak sensors, 2 motion sensors, and 1 temperature sensor. All of these products work perfectly for my applications (again, bought solely for use with Apple’s HomeKit). The ONLY issue I would note is that for the first time with any of these products, the G2H that arrived today appears to have been an open box. The usual plastic wrapping over the camera had been stuffed back in the box, and most disappointingly the 3M adhesive and magnetic plate were not in the box. Despite this, I had no issues with setup, and this doesn’t discourage me from buying Aqara again - though I’d love it if they would send me some extra 3M adhesives and metal plates for mounting.
