Perfect fit, direct replacement for the old starter
Bought this starter through Amazon for my 2006 Ford Expedition 5.4L. Perfect fit, direct replacement for the old starter.First thing I need to comment on was the price was way cheaper than I found from any of my local auto parts store where I was quoted $115 for a new starter with one year warranty, $135 for re-manufactured starter and two year warranty, and $165 for a new starter with lifetime warranty. This starter was brand new and offers lifetime warranty for $68.68. Can't beat it.The starter itself works great, cranks really well and hopefully will last a long time. I will post an update if I have any issues.Just a pointer for those of you looking to tackle the installation of this part on your own. It can be done but it's a pain to get to. You'll need a 13mm socket and just the right combination of adapters to get to the top bolt on the starter. Good luck and don't forget to disconnect the battery first!

Great buy, great product.
There are several youtube videos teaching you how to test the starter while out of the vehicle. I bought one and it tested fine. When installed it tested fine. Cranked a little faster, but that only means a few less wire windings. I needed a fine ratio ratchet and a universal joint to get the hard to get to nut. Also a deep well 13mm socket for the ground cable. Bought all the tools from Amazon! Fit perfect on my 2002 F 150 5.4. I used Amazon "does it fit" application to verify it fit my truck. One note if you are testing out of vehicle, when testing the starter motor, contact the cable going in to the motor, NOT the nut on the solenoid. Took me a bit to realize that. Touch the nut on the solenoid, I suspect you activate the neutral pole in the solenoid. Also, i had bad corrosion on old starter wires. Use di-electric grease on wire contact points. You will be glad you did. It sells as add on on Amazon.

Would never buy again
Well I got the starter fast. It worked great for a couple days. The price was wonderful for a brand new starter. Then it started to grind when I would try and start it. The Bendix did not fully engage and ended up messing up my flywheel and the starter. I had to have the flywheel and starter replaced. So the $100 I saved by buying this starter did not help mr too much when I had to pay $1200 to fix the damage it caused. I definitely learned my lesson. You get what you pay for.

Problems with shipping, but good starter and great service from TYC
I received this starter quickly, as I had paid for overnight shipping via Prime.Upon removing the bad starter from my truck and removing the new one from the box, I noticed one of the drain tubes was broken off of the new starter. I needed to get my truck going so I installed it anyway(it will work without them, but you need them to keep dirt out). I emailed TYC directly and received a response within 24 hours asking for my address. Today I received two replacement drain tubes via priority mail, even though I only needed one. You can't beat that.As for the starter motor itself, it works fine and seems to crank the engine over much faster than the old one did when it worked. Time will tell if it lasts, though with a lifetime warranty and good service from TYC, I don't anticipate having any issues. At this price, it's a bargain. It's cheaper than a rebuilt starter from the local auto parts chains, and doesn't have a core charge. I will buy from TYC next time I need a starter motor.

Good Product... Would Recommend.
Like's: Put this on my 2005 Ford Expedition. Good product at less than half the price. And, when I say half the price I mean of a rebuilt one, this things brand new! Couldn't see any major differences compared to my original Ford starter. Saved me a trip to the auto-shop, and then another to turn back in my old starter to get the core refund. Had shipped the least expensive method, and still showed up within a week.Concerns: I have no clue about the durability? The starter I just took out was 8 years old, and still working, just begging to have some hiccups, but I don't like breaking down.Dislikes: Wire from starter to solenoid had a simply punch weld, and appeared weak. I wrapped this with JB weld-bond prior to installation. Small bolt on solenoid had very soft metal and I stripped the threads during installation.Good luck guys! And, I want you to know you can get that top bolt, just be persistent.

Adequate replacement for a starter
So far, so good. I have had this installed in my 2000 Ford F150 for several months now. It has held up well, never failing to start the truck. Installation went fine, all bolt holes were on spec with the factory Motorcraft starter I removed. The weight felt about the same, so I assume quality is similar. After installation I could tell how bad the old starter had become. the new one turned over faster and started the old 5.4L even quicker. At 296k miles, it is well broken in. I would recommend this product as a value priced, adequate replacement.

works like new
Part was exact fit for factory installed starter on my 2008 Ford Expedition. The third bolt on top is the hardest to get to. I had to take it to a mechanic to have it removed and install the new one. It was too difficult for two people and jacks to get to that elusive bolt. Truck now starts without issue and is strong like a new start. I knew it was my starter when the starting got slower and slower within two days. It feels like a dead battery but the lights don't flicker and there is no click click click when trying to start.

Perfect fit.
I got this starter when they said I would and it fit my 2003 F-150 with 5.4 perfectly and works like a charm.Decent value for the money, this is a brand new unit, not remanufactured so dont have to return your old one for core charge.

Lost $300 in Labour because part defective!
Product was installed by a Ford mechanic. When the truck was started the starter kept running until the truck was shut off. The truck only ran for about 30 seconds. The Starter was VERY HOT, the mechanic had to wait half our before he could handle and remove the part because the unit was so hot.
