Good choice!
Got it to catch coddling moths in the garden. Holding up great. The handle telescopes easily, plenty long/adaptable. Very happy with it.

good for herding birds too
After hurricane Helene ripped through our area, taking out one of the large screens in the lanai, butterflies, dragonflies and even birds get in but have trouble finding their way our. I got tired of seeing their corpses on the deck so I bought this. I'm happy to say that I have been able to catch and release a number of butterflies. And I even herded a few birds towards the open screen so they could get out. It's a nice size net.

My grandson was thrilled with his butterfly net!
My grandson, not quite 3, is into bugs and crawly things of all kinds. He has had an insect house (which he calls a "bug catcher"), that he puts caterpillars, earthworms, and isopods (rolly pollys) in to watch them. I gifted him a real insect net so that he and his father can go after the flying insects for observation, especially lightening bugs which should be around in late May. The shipping was very fast and the net came well packaged. My son tells me that this net has an adjustable handle so it can go from full length for an adult to a much sorter length for a toddler. The net mesh seems to be fairly sturdy and should not easily tear. Thank you for a great product. our little entomologist approves!

Item was okay.
Needed to be flexible to bend a little when trapping insects and reptiles on the ground to lay flatter around the net to prevent captures from slipping out. Good for butterflies and moths on plants.

I don't use for butterflies
I have a work shop with tall doors on one side and I constantly get hummingbirds and regular birds trapping themselves inside my bldg so I needed something to help me catch them for release.

Perfect Bird Catcher
This is an excellent quality stainless telescopic net catcher. Compact and stores easily on the back of a door hanger.

It works for flies!
My neighbor asked if I was catching butterflies- I was releasing houseflies back outside. The net doesn't let them out & it's big enough that I can lazily catch 2-7 flies on every swipe, as long as i close it up with my hand. I don't like sticky fly ribbon, I don't like smelly fly traps. I hate swatting- I live in an apartment & I'm awake at night, so the wacking noise is horrible for my rapport with the neighbors. But with this, I can silently scoop up the flies while they swarm & take them out.I haven't seen more than 2 butterflies each year for a while, so I don't know who's catching them anymore, but the net works for houseflies.

Broke At Weak Point On First Use
Clever folding design, but the point where the segmented hoop closes and latches together and exposes the threaded screw for connection to the telescoping rod proved to be too brittle for actual use - it broke into 3 separate pieces after 10 minutes into our first us at catching bugs out back.
