I own over 50 Swiss Army Knives. This one finally checks all the boxes in terms of what I personally find useful. 93 mm makes the tools bigger and beefier and the Alox scales make the entire tool way stronger. If the traditional Red plastic scaled Swiss Army Knife looks and feels too much like a toy, then choose an Alox model. These things are built like tanks and you'll understand what I mean the moment you pick it up. The tool selection is perfect in my opinion because it gives you everything you'd need working in the outdoors. Big Blade, Saw, Large pair of Scissors, Can and Bottle openers, Screw Drivers that fit both Flat and Phillips screws. Lastly the Awl. This thing is awesome. Puts holes in plastic, wood, aluminum, you name it. So you have a tool for every type of cutting. Blade for general cutting tasks. Saw for cross cutting. Scissors for more detailed cutting. The Awl is good for creating lanyard or lashing holes or whatever you might need at the time. And the Bottle Opener makes a awesome light use prying tool. The best part is there's not a tool here that's essentially useless. Like the corkscrew or hook on other models. Carry a 58mm Classic or Rambler model in the pocket and have the Farmer X as a belt pouch Knife. Recommended!

i bought this knife to give as a gift to someone who works with horticulture. The selection was based on my experience with the Pioneer X model, which is identical except that the Pioneer X is 3 layer and has no saw. The Farmer X is four layer and includes the saw. The Pioneer X has been an excellent knife with sturdier blades than the familiar red Swiss knife models. The Pioneer X is about as heavy a pocket knife as I want to carry, and this one weighs a half ounce more. I have tried this Farmer X in my pocket, and I don't feel any significant difference between it and the Pioneer X. I am using a Keysmart Nano suspension clip for the Pioneer X, and am also giving a clip as part of gift Farmer X. I don't need or want a saw, but for those that do, this is a very good design. I bought the Pioneer X because I use scissors in a SAK (Swiss Army Knife) more than I use a blade. The scissors have valuable horticulture application too. Other general comments based on my experience with the Pioneer X is that it's very durable. The different awl design is more useful to me than the standard awl found on models like the Huntsman or Swiss Champ. I think Victorinox has really created a winner here for urban and suburban everyday carry. Here is how I carry pocket knives: 1) Pioneer X for urban, suburban, and general walking around in the woods and while fishing. 2) Swisschamp in the wilderness. 3) A small Classic in one of my tackle boxes. I used to use it for everyday carry, but wanted larger blade and scissors. 4) I tried Leatherman style tools, but never liked them. I'm in the blade camp, not the pliers camp.

I love this knife. I am a land surveyor and have been carrying it in my pocket at work every day for the past two weeks. The saw and scissors are most useful, though I have literally used every tool, even the leather punch to hold a tape measure (DBH) in place. A bit heavy but the variety of tools is worth it. Has a great walk and talk (ease of opening) as the knife enthusiasts say

This is an excellent pocket knife for man or woman. It is very well made and has a variety of tools and functions to assist in urban life or on the trail. I can’t see anyone being disappointed with this knife. It is as gorgeous as it is functional. It is very slightly larger than many other Swiss Army Knives and has tighter backsprings and a thicker knife blade and screwdriver. It is absolutely stout. I put a suspension clip on mine so it doesn’t fall to the bottom of the pocket. My usual edc is the Handyman model which has more tools on it, but I am a bit of an SAK collector so I had to have an Alox in my stable. If they ever were to make the Handyman with the aluminum Alox scales, that would be the perfect pocket knife, in my opinion. Don’t hesitate on this one, I give it a strong buy. If you are gifting it know there is a space for engraving if you desire. You won’t go wrong with this pocket knife.

The Victorinox Farmer X Alox is a compact knife and a great value and has number features that will take care of a variety of tasks. The blade is sharp and able to satisfy different daily needs.

A bit bulky but has all the features that want/need. I have other SAKs for specific needs but this is my new primary EDC knife. I took the tweezers out of an old SAK and stashed them under the saw and added a pocket clip that hangs the knife on the key chain.
