I have been using these hat clip pencil holders for several months now and it really has made my life easier when doing carpentry work. My favorite place for keeping a pencil handy is behind my ear but due to the fact that I have elephantine ears it can be frustrating having to pick up my pencil every time I move my head.The clip that holds it to the cap can be a little tough to deal with but this is a definite advantage because once installed it stays there! It will hold a standard sized pencil, pen or carpenter's pencil. This is a product that appears to be very durable and it works.

This little hat clip is well designed, durable and an essential hat accessory. I need a pencil handy all the time while I am working and this is so much better than sticking it behind my ear, in my pocket or on a nearby table. My pencil is always where I need it now. I did find it was quite difficult to get it onto my hat, but that is an essential part of the design. Once you get it on your hat, it will stay there! I used a flat tool to open the clip up just enough to slip the clip onto my hat. This is a slight challenge, but worth it to have the clip stay so firmly in place. Totally happy with it!

Hold pencil well but lost all 2.

Always have a pencil available when working with wood.

I decided to return them after 24hrs but already misplaced one so I'm stuck with them.As an electrician we are always bumping or hitting our heads, or having wires snag pens on our hats. The clips hold smaller utensils such as Bic ballpoint pens pretty well but less so for Sharpee-type markers. Small bumps easily knock out markers.A zip tie on the side of a hard hat holds most utensils very well and rarely knocks them out. The only issue with the zip tie is with some headlamps' hard hat clips get in the way. I need a more secure attachment other when I can't use zip ties. Retractable lanyards are good if you have a small molle-type webbing strap but even those metal spring clips don't hold tight enough most of the time.Pros:*They seem to hold a 5/16in diameter Bic ball point pen or similar sized utensil well, bigger ones not so much.*The Hat Clips hold onto fabric baseball caps so well it's a bit hard to get off.*Plastic clips are made of a hard and strong plastic even though they look thin and brittle.Cons:*The ribs on the inside of the clips need improvement for holding utensils and stay on hard hats better,curved brim.*Not good enough for Electricians who often work overhead and in through smallish openings and around wires and objects that can bump or catch utensils and knock them out of the clip.

Hubby always needs to have a pencil or sharpie available on his construction job so he uses these hard hat clips to keep them handy. They clip right onto his hard hat and stay in place. These are pretty sturdy but they do occasionally break after a lot of use and he just gets another clip out of the package. His coworkers like them also. I will continue to buy these for him since they stay tight on his hard hat and they hold his pencil/sharpies tightly also.

I use these daily. My day job is remodeling and woodwork, I’m also a pencil snob who prefers to not use a carpenter pencil. That being said regular sized pencils would always get lost in my tool pouch or fall out of my front pocket. These have solved that problem. I purchased these a few years ago and they are still going strong. I don’t notice any difference in the way the hat feels. I’ve knocked my hat off a few times while in a crawl space because the pencil is to long but that’s my own fault. For me this was a small purchase that made work more efficient, and the simple task of grabbing a pencil, more convenient.
