Gravity filter for chemical and pathogen removal, including fluoride! Requires no electricity. Compatible with Berkey.
I use these with my old Royal Berkey stainless container--- they fit perfectly in the slots. These ceramic filters are much better than the shoddy black Berkey "cheap extruded" filters-- which eventually become contaminated with coliform bacteria, and which also fall apart at the bottom from shoddy glue/construction, letting unfiltered water come through!! Over time, Black Berkey filters can grow coliform inside, thus adding coliform to your filtered water, which is what happened to me (although they do do a good job of absorbing chemicals like chlorine.) This Aquacera Cerametix ceramic filter is based on the original and highly successful Doulton ceramic technology-- more than 100 years old--- and it has a smaller filter pore size (1/2 a micron?)than black berkey, while containing the absorptive carbon on the inside. It is also self sterilizing (it is impregnated with silver on the inside, which inhibits bacterial and biofilm growth, unlike black Berkey.)This Aquacera Cerametix filter also filters out most flouride (only "bone" charcoal will do this) -- a major improvement and benefit---without adding additional toxic aluminum to the water-- unlike the pricey Berkey fluoride filter--- which adsorbs fluoride, while adding aluminum!!!. Now why would anyone want to substitute aluminum for fluoride? Not a good tradeoff ---especially if Alzheimers runs in your family, as Alzheimers patients have 6 times more aluminum in their brains than normal people. Fluoride is very bad for people with thyroid issues-- so it needs to be filtered out, and Aquacera does this. The Aquacera Cerametix is an excellent chemical and antimicrobial filter which can be used with no electricity, since it is a gravity filter. In fact-- many have used it in the field in Africa with no illness problems, although the micron pore size is not small enough to filter out all pathogens-- but it does a great job with the majority of pathogens. If I were camping in Africa, I would use this filter, and then perhaps add a few drops of bleach to a gallon of filtered water, while letting it sit overnight to evaporate the bleach-- just to be sure. I use 2 of these filters with my old Berkey stainless container with well water, and it makes very tasty water. I also use one of these filters in my vacation home where the water is heavily fluoridated. I made the container by simply drilling a 1/2 inch hole at the bottom of a five gallon bucket, and allowing the water to drip from the bucket into a large glass Sun Tea jar. Overall I would recommend this product.

Would highly recommend this filter.
Bought two of these for my Berkey. Installed with no problem. Ran and discarded two complete tanks of water through them to prepare for personal use. Filter cycle is reasonably fast and complete. The water tasted great. Particularly with the added fluoride filtration. Tasted much better than my previous ceramic filter or the old black berkey filter. Will definitely plan on buying again when these need to be replaced. Would highly recommend.

Poor product, poor customer service
Looks good in theory. I used the black carbon filters that came with my berkey for 3 years, never had a single problem. Water always tasted great. I bought these and have had them for 2-3 months now, and within 2-3 uses after cleaning my berkey, there is black sediment all over the bottom of the filter. I called aquacera about it, was told I would get a call back about it - no call back. I called back after a few days and spoke with someone, and he suggested I take pictures and after seeing the pictures confirmed something was leaking from the filter and said I should remove the filters for a few days and do some sort of thing to shake them and see if stuff still comes out. I asked if there were any other options because I threw my old Berkey filters out and don't want to be without water filters for a few days. It's been a few days now, no response. Poor product, poor customer service, won't be buying from them again.* Update 9/1/17 - I went ahead and bought replacement black filters from berkey. Then went through the 3 day process to test these filters, and they are confirmed leaking carbon with every test. Then after 3 emails, 2 phone calls and voicemails, I finally got a response back from Aquacera about these filters, and they replaced them. I'm upgrading my rating from 1 to 2 stars, since I finally got some replacement filters from Aquacera. I'm going through the process of flushing them and am going to give them another shot for a month or two, and will update my review again when I find out if they're working as intended or still leaking bits of carbon.

Works good, fast shipping
Wasn't what I expected, but that was my fault. Works good, fast shipping.

Awesome filter works great
Awesome filter works great! Water Tastes Great! Very good price especially compared to the other products. Gravity fed water filters take time and adding the larger surface area of the 9 inch candle then adding a second one works great. Good job CeraMetix!

SLOW!
Very slow filtering and only filter ⅔'s of the way down and then stops. Water tastes clean and pure but it takes forever to filter a gallon of water. Full disclosure: I'm only using one filter in a two gallon gravity filter but have used the Aqua Cera 7" and imperial versions before without a problem.

Better alternative to the expensive Berkey fluoride filters
After reading reviews on the Berkey filter fluoride filters, I decided to give these a try as they were recommended by others. These replace the black Berkey and the Berkey fluoride filters. They filter water quite rapidly, like my new Berkey filters used to do. I like these filters a lot and highly recommend them as they don't seem to require as much maintenance as the Berkey's.
