Updated 12/2020 - Faster, better menus, better remote than our Roku premiere+ &,.
Update 12/2/2020 - After using this for a couple weeks i went and disconnected both the Roku and Chromecasts for good. i've even stopped using the smart tv apps and only use this unless i happen to be watching something in 4K or 8K only then do i use the built in TV apps. i didn't expect much from a $17 dollar stick let alone that i would prefer it to all our other streaming media devices. We already had a Roku premiere plus 4K unit however we get dozens of OTA channels with our antenna and wanted something that could put all our media in one spot, using one device. should also note we had a couple chromecast dongles as well. The stick comes with what you need to get started. Batteries, charger, cable, hdmi connection and an hdmi extender for those who need one. If unsure how it all connects I included photos showing that. Ours was linked to our existing amazon account when it arrived. It was as simple to install as you could hope for, no rocket scientist needed so to speak. We have streaming services like YouTube TV, Amazon Prime, Netflix, CBS all access, etc. As said we also get a lot of OTA channels using our antenna thanks to our signal amplifier. Once setup is complete by pressing the ‘tv with rabbit ears’ you will go to the channel guide section. There it starts out with the OTA channels, then YouTube TV and so on.Also you have the ‘home’ button. That takes you to the main page showing all your media sources and recently used channels. There is a menu across the top with viewing options. On the far right as we have a recast device, there is DVR. So again everything all in one spot using one device, just what we wanted. The remote response is fast, much more than expected. Compared to the Roku premiere plus 4K response times it is blazing fast which honestly that surprised me. that considering the Roku cost 6X what I paid for this stick. Picture quality to my eyes is no different than if viewing using the stock smart TV apps or Roku device.Plenty of useful options and settings with the device. As mentioned we have the amazon recast and paired with this stick the two together are a wonderful. The first one worked so well I ordered a second for our mom. I only bring that up because she still cannot set the clock on her old VCR. Anything even remotely tech related means I get to do it for her. This fire stick and the remote are so well designed I was able to give her one. It took me all of ten minutes to show her how to use it. since she not only can use the fire device, tv how she wants and when she wants but it also gave her a little positive, confidence boost being able to use tech that before was always too complicated for her to use.The only minor negative is voice control. Sometimes it gets it right other times it doesn't but does get to the 'general neighborhood' so to speak. We got both of ours when they were priced at seventeen bucks. Well worth it and then some in all of our opinions in this household. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone. Those intimidated by tech or those like myself who simply want everything in one spot with one remote to access it all from.

Much better than the Google chromecast!!
The media could not be loaded. I love my new fire stick! Ive had it for just about 2 weeks and it works great! I included a picture of the box that looked a little beat up when I opened the package, but everything inside was perfectly fine.I purchased this after returning a Google chromecast on Amazon and leaving a pretty bad review. Thankfully, the purchase of the Amazon Fire TV Stick Lite worked out much better.I purchased the Lite option for a few dollars less than the price of the original Fire TV Stick option. The only difference is that the Lite does NOT have a power button or a volume control. I don't think this is too inconvenient, but it might have been worth the extra few dollars just to have everything in one.Keep in mind that there are a lot of different streaming services offered on the Fire TV (netflix, Disney+, CBS all access, YouTube, etc) but while most of the available apps are free to download, most of them require a subscription to actually use. With that being said, there is a "free" tab on the home screen that gives options to watch for free WITH ads. If you don't subscribe to any streaming services though, and don't like ads/commercials, this device probably won't be of much use to you.I have an Amazon Echo 1st generation, and was easily able to connect it to my new fire stick in the Alexa app. As you can see in the video, there is a few seconds delay, but it works pretty well (and I rested the remote on the TV so you can see that it really is the Alexa taking control)Although there is no power button on the remote, the TV did shut off when I said "Alexa turn off my TV" but it did not turn back on when I said "Alexa turn on my TV". The Echo did not respond to volume commands pertaining to the TV. It's not a total loophole, but being able to turn the TV off is a little extra since I expected to exclusively need my TV remote to control power and volume. Either way, it was easy set up and provides convinient handsfree watching. Pressing and holding the microphone button on the remote while speaking allows all of the same voice commands as the Echo, without needing to say "Alexa", and the delay is significantly LESS than when using the Echo. The commands that I have discovered and used so far are: open an app; play a movie/show/song (if you don't specify which app, it will give you your options, or you can specify which app in the original command); turn off the TV; play/pause; skip/rewind; what time is it?; What's the news?; Home; open settings. There are also suggested voice commands that pop up at the bottom of the home screen every now and then if you just leave the home screen open. The remote takes 2 AAA batteries, and 2 were included, so that was nice to not have to go get any separately.A small extension cord is included incase things are cramped around your HDMI port and you can't have the Fire Stick pointing straight out. I did not need this, but it seems like an important feature to make sure noone has any trouble setting the device up.Overall, this is a great device and has made streaming very easy. It works well and I would highly recommend it.

Much better than Roku
This item works great for the money with prime video and all streaming needs. MUCH BETTER THAN ROKU. Allows vpn apps to protect privacy unlike Roku which does not allow vpn protection.
