Basically i haven't eaten food for 1.5 YEARS thx to Soylent!
First off thanks to Amazon for now giving me free same day! Ive been on Soylent for a year and a half! I simply cant thank Soylent enough. Two words. Life changing. Im a busy IT professional and I have always hated vegetables to boot. This resulted in eating like utter $&@! my entire life. If the recipe was more than push 3 on the microwave i didnt eat it. Low energy. Lots of cakes and sweets. Poor nutrition. I was honestly on a path to disease and death. Got sick yearly. Soylent is an actual meal REPLACEMENT. Not suppliment. Ensure etc are supliments. 400 calories and one fith of ur daily nutrition in each one. I was never fat really because ive always had a fast metabolism but i was chubby for sure. Got sick a lot. Low energy. I mean at times so low I felt as tho it was an effort to breathe. Always hungry too but no appetite because i ate $&@!. Truly poor quality of life. I knew it was because of my diet. I always ate terribly even as a kid. Im 48 now. But I neither had the time nor taste to eat better. Along comes Soylent a year and a half ago(as far as when i started...its been around slightly longer) I almost exclusively drink Soylent and have for over a year! I eat maybe a couple times a week. Sometimes two or three weeks. Not because I force myslef to btw. I prefer to drink a Soylent over eating! I eat more for social reasons than anything. Sometimes I go weeks without eating. I PREFER Soylent. When I do eat it's because of a craving and usually its a top notch restaurant with my girl or friends. On rare occasions its because i just want something warm and solid and evem then i go all out. Thats so rare though. The little I do eat it really doesnt matter how bad for me the food I choose is either. So i go for it when i do eat. Imagination run wild and for pure sensation without guilt:) Wether its sugary fatty whatever. It doeant make a difference because the rest of the time im taking in what i need to without the bad stuff i shouldnt be. Benefits.....higher energy level. I dont need to drink anything with caffeine anymore. Not coffee or soda or anything caffeinated. Body fat of 16% and a flat stomach. NEVER had a flat stomach my whole life! NEVER hungry. The HUGE amount of time I save. If you add up how much time u spend buying food..... Thinking about what to buy. Putting it away. Thinking about what to cook or where to eat. Cooking it. Eating it. Cleaning up. Driving to restaurants. Driving to buy it. Checkput Lines. Filling carts. Deciding on restaurants. Total time you save a year according to my own personal calculations is 40 days a year or 960 hours! Thats a really conservative eatimate imo. Thats about 2.63 hours a day! What could you do with an extra 960 hours? 40 days, more than a month or almost 6 weeks? A great deal im sure. The taste is neutral or tastless(I jave not tried the flavors other than coffee and that was good but i just dont need flavoring) Its bland yes. When u drink it seconds later u could forget u just had something in ur mouth. Why is this a good thing? Well imagine your favorite flavor. Now imagine eating it everyday multiple times a day. It being neutral you never get sick of it. And i dont. When i need calories i crave Soylent now. My brain has re-associated and adapted that mechanism of survival to crave Soylent to obtain my nutrition and calories when they are needed. I should mention that my bathroom habits haven't changed;) I always get asked that when i tell people I basically dont eat or only eat a cpl times a week. Dont ask me how a liquid goes in and a solid comes out because i cant quite figure that out either. I assume it has to do with fiber but i really dont know. Calorie for calorie its cheaper and contains better nutrition. Food for me is recreational now. Think about ur life. When u eat how often is it something thats amazing and exactly what u want. More often than not its whatever is convenient and that doesn't usually go along with great for u. Its somethimg u just have to do. Mostly. Well i ONLY eat when its amazing and the rest of the time i'm getting perfect nutrition and not wasting time doing something mundane for lack of a better word:) People always say to me.....eating is something thats such a pleasure tho...dont u miss it? Yeah it absolutely can be. But honestly when ur at Mcdonalds is that a true pleasure or experience in taste? No. Not for me. My blood work reflects my sentiments btw and went from extremely high triglycerides and cholesterol to everything being perfectly in line! I used to suffer from occasionally bouts of depression. Nothing serious. Never needed meds or anything. More from always being exhausted and fighting just to do my daily grind. That hasnt happened since i switched to Soylent! Not once. Not once! Coincidence? Maybe. But nutrition is very much connected to low energy and depression. Soylent..... from the heart, I cannot thank u enough. You not only changed my life, you gave me one. After a year and a half I cannot say enough, thank you enough, nor recommend you enough. Loyal customer for life........ Note: Drink water! It takes more water to digest it then it contains so you still should drink water! May also wanna take a cpl fiber pills occasionally. The water is a must tho. Thats probably why i read one review saying his energy level dropped. Dehydration.

My favorite
These are my favorite of the Soylent meal replacement flavors. I drink like half of one when I wake up in the night hungry, but I’ve also used them for work or long commutes. Fill you up for a good hour or two, just don’t forget these don’t replace drinking water. The banana flavor is somewhat more candy banana than real banana, if that matters to you. It’s not overly sweet (to me at least, and I dislike very sweet beverages).

My favorite of all the meal replacement shakes
I've been drinking Soylent since the early/mid-2010s, and am deeply nostalgic for the original flavor as a result. This doesn't taste like that, but it's still pretty good. I think Soylent Original is the best-tasting Meal Replacement Shake on the market, everything else is generally too sweet by a long shot. The closest alternative to Soylent is Huel Powder - their RTD version is also too sweet - and I prefer Soylent Powder to the RTD, but I must admit I am much more likely to drink the bottles than mix the powder on the average day. I think it's fine as a meal replacement. I don't feel much healthier when drinking it than not, my gastric processes are all about the same. It's reasonably light as a meal - better than many kinds of breakfast and lunch, especially if you are sensitive to abdominal fullness - and it doesn't leave a residue or film on the tongue. I typically look forward to the Soylent, and I really appreciate how easy it makes meal prep, for the nutrition it offers. Notably, I can't really have Soylent regularly anymore because I'm on a restricted sodium diet, and there's enough in a single bottle that it throws my numbers off for the day. It isn't overbearing, but it is a lot. I still have a bottle now and again, but it is not longer a regular part of my diet. My major complaint is the price. It is expensive now relative to ten years ago, and I don't like it. The powder is okay - about $3/serving, but the RTD is pricey at $4/meal. That is the biggest barrier to my buying it regularly. What I need to do, I think, is buy a 12pk of RTD, drink them, then wash them thoroughly and refill them with a single-serving of powder, then add water at the time of consumption. This way I can get near the convenience of the RTD while maintaining the price advantage of the powder. So I am biased due to nostalgia, but I have tried many other options and this remains my favorite even after ten years. I always recommend people at least give it a try, if they have any interest whatsoever, I think it's worth the investment.

Detailed Overview of Experience and Thoughts
INTRO: Soylent is great. I have only been using it for 15 days now on a 95% Soylent-only diet. I'm consuming it at a calorie-deficit 1,500-1,600 kcal/day between this, the bottled 2.0 version, and the powdered version which I subscribe to on their official site (because any listing for it on Amazon at this time is NOT official and way overpriced; Soylent is only sold officially on Amazon in the 2.0 bottled form). I am a male in my mid-30's. I work a desk job so I sit for some 50+ hours/week, though I ride my bike a few times each week and ride anywhere from 20-100 miles each ride. My more common rides are closer to 20-25 but I've already done several century (100 mile) rides this season since February. I have not ridden a century yet since starting Soylent but I have ridden a couple of 80-82 milers and on those rides yes I do consume some Gu energy gels and Clif Shot Bloks to make up for my low 1,500 kcal base. USES: It should be noted that Soylent does not have to be a 100% meal replacement for extended periods of time, such as weeks or months. It is not a 'diet' in and of itself but, like any other food, it can be used as a diet and many have done just that. It is specifically made to be everything your body needs both micro and macro-nutrient-wise and nothing more. It is made to be a convenient, all-encompassing meal replacement and nothing more than that. Some people use it just for 1-2 meals/day when it's not convenient to go out or prepare something. Others use it for all meals each day, and even for extended periods without problems. TASTE: It tastes bland and 'neutral' as they call it. It does not taste bad to me, but it certainly doesn't taste 'great' or 'delicious', though again, it's not supposed to. Myself and most others have no problem with the taste at all and find it easy to drink. Some find it too difficult to drink so they either chug it or flavor it. Myself, I have tasted much worse and actually repulsive drinks in my time and Soylent doesn't even come close to tasting bad or disgusting. Since it is a neutral taste, it does lend itself well to flavorings. You can find loads of different 'recipes' to flavor your Soylent in a simple Google search. TEXTURE: The 2.0 bottled form, which is this Amazon listing, is very smooth with almost no particles or resemblance of texture. The powdered form has quite a bit. It is fairly thick for a drink, similar to the consistency of milk I would say in the 2.0 form and more like a malt or shake in the powdered form. COST: First let me say that if you subscribe to a case of Soylent here on Amazon at least 5x then you get 15% off each case, which is cheaper than on the official Soylent website! Now with that out of the way, it may seem expensive but when you add up how much you spend on your average restaurant meal or on weekly groceries it really isn't that bad. Your average 'meal' of Soylent is far less than your average meal at a restaurant, and a good amount less than what you'd spend on groceries to make a healthy meal. FINAL THOUGHTS: I can't recommend Soylent enough. I still love food and always have, and I don't think that will ever go away. I am not committed to living on 100% Soylent the rest of my life and I don't think anyone should be. Food is enjoyable and very social. Soylent is much less so in both departments. Where it does shine, however, is in it's convenience factor. At work I take two bottles for 800 kcal. I am able to 'eat' (really, drinking) my lunch at my desk while able to get more work done. I'm also able to monitor my caloric intake with ease and between that and my exercise I've lost 10 pounds in the two weeks I've been using it. Give Soylent a try-- If it interests you at all after reading what I've had to say, I don't think you'll be disappointed in the slightest!

Best thing in the world!! Slightly acquired taste.
This stuff is a miracle! I've always wished there was just a pill I could take or something so I wouldn't have to worry about eating. I've never had a problem eating too much, my problem was finding the time/motivation to eat enough that I didn't feel tired! It's such a pain, who wants to take HOURS out of every single day to shop, prepare food, eat the food, and clean up the mess? I don't! Before Soylent I mostly ate cereal, frozen food and take out. I'm a picky eater and trying to come up with something that sounded good to eat every day was almost becoming a point of anxiety for me. I had begun counting my calories to see if I was eating enough and discovered I was getting maybe 800-1000 calories in an average day. I'd work all day and at 8pm desperately try to eat a day's worth of food all at once but just couldn't consume enough in one sitting. Now, since it takes no time or effort to prepare my food I can take in meals throughout the day, like a normal person, and I feel so much better! More energy and my skin has improved. Now, onto the serious matter of taste. When I first began Soylent they only had original flavor and I practically gagged my way through the first bottle. I was bitterly disappointed and couldn't imagine drinking 4-5 a day. I did some research and decided to try adding a little chocolate Nesquick to it. That worked great! I blew threw a can of Nesquick in under a month and when it ran out, I tried it plain again and discovered the original flavor wasn't so bad anymore. It just took a little getting used to. I still occasionally add strawberry or chocolate Nesquick to my original bottles, but it's not really necessary. Like some other people, I hated the Nectar at first sip. It tasted like floral perfume in my mouth, it was awful. But a couple bottles in, I found myself liking it and for a while it was even my favorite flavor. Similar to the Nectar, the Cacao wasn't great when I first tried it either. I thought it was too nutty and had a fake chocolate taste. That quickly changed and now it tastes like a perfect chocolate milk and is hands down the best flavor available. If I were to introduce a friend to Soylent, I would start with Cacao, I've also tried the powder and really really wanted to like it, but seriously couldn't handle the taste. I figured it would be an acquired taste for me, like the other flavors, but after a day and half of plugging my nose to chug the stuff and then trying to rinse the taste out of my mouth afterwards, I just gave up on it. I felt like I could taste wallpaper paste all day and night after a glass of Soylent powder! Other stuff: SALT. This one is kind of important. Soylent is very low sodium, which is good for you, but can make you crave salty foods, especially at first. I started craving potato chips and fries like crazy. Which was fine by me, I wasn't trying to restrict my diet, so I just ate some chips. But I eventually found it was cheaper/easier/better to just add a pinch of salt to a bottle now and then. Plus after 6 months or so the salt cravings are mostly gone, but I still enjoy some saltine crackers as my snack most days. OTHER FOOD is amazing when you drink 90% Soylent. I usually drink 4 bottles a day + a snack to reach about 1800 calories. All sorts of food are just bursting with flavor now! A sip of juice is like eating a delicious fruit candy drink. I don't feel deprived at all, I feel like I am able to appreciate all the little nuisances of taste and flavor, that most people so used to they don't even notice. The only bad bit: I'm addicted! I HAAAATE running out of Soylent and would pay a premium to go buy a case locally once in a while, when I am stupid and forget to re-order in time. When I have to switch back to 'regular' food, I feel sick. It's probably because I am pretty much dumping poison into a body that is used to a near-perfect balanced diet that is always the same. Running out of Soylent for me usually means starvation followed by pizza, burgers and frozen chicken nuggets, followed by diarrhea, lethargy and mood swings. :(

Excellent, but make sure you know how L-theanine affects you
For some background, I've been an occasional Soylent powder/bottle drinker for the past year or so. I also drink a lot of coffee, but not necessarily on a regular "every morning" schedule. I think there are two types of people who might be interested in Coffiest: people who are Soylent fans and want to check out the alternative product, and people who aren't already Soylent fans but are looking for a breakfast drink. I'll address that second group first, then get to the Soylent fans at the end. I've gone through about 30 bottles of Coffiest now. In general, I think it's excellent. Taste-wise, this is not a SWEET drink; when you drink it, you actually feel like you're getting some nutrition. If you're the kind of person who tends to over-consume sweet things, this product won't activate your sweet tooth, which is a good thing. Personally, once I've had one coffee or breakfast-themed drink, I tend to crave a second. With Coffiest, I actually feel satisfied, and I can move on with my day. The flavor is pleasantly even; it's not strong in any particular direction. However, most other drinks have strong flavors, so my tongue was a bit surprised the first time I tasted it. For a split second, I thought I didn't like it, but within moments I adjusted. By the end of the first bottle I thought it was delicious. The texture is smooth. It has a bit of thickness to it, but not too much. You can feel a very fine grit when you're drinking it—chalky, almost—but it's not unpleasant. Like the taste, I found myself enjoying it by the end of the first bottle. If I had to find something bad to say about it, I'd say that the mouthfeel you get once you're done is a little weird. It's not an aftertaste, exactly, but there's definitely some residue left over for a few minutes once you're done drinking. A couple sips of water get rid of it. Oh, and it's way better cold, so I recommend putting it in the fridge. However, there is something you should know before you buy 10 cases of the stuff: when it comes to how it makes you FEEL, your mileage may vary. There's caffeine in it, of course, but also L-theanine. L-theanine has been gaining popularity among biohackers and supplement takers, and this was my first exposure to the stuff. I can tell you that it has a very real effect, and it may not be exactly what you want. L-theanine is basically supposed to be a calming agent. A lot of people are taking it with caffeine to try to "clean up" the stimulating effects, avoiding the jitters and uneasy feelings it sometimes causes. Well, for me personally, it does a little too much. It mellows me out to the point that my eyes get a little heavy and I can feel a bit of a fog in my head. The weird thing is that I'm not sleepy at all; I just kind of want to stop everything I'm doing and chill in a comfy chair or something. The end result is that this is a TERRIBLE morning drink for me, because it makes me unproductive. However, as a mid-afternoon drink that helps me unwind (but stay awake), it's fantastic. I wouldn't take this before an exam or something, but I'd definitely have some before a game night or interview. The way it affects you might be completely different, which is why it's important to experiment a little and see what works best. For the Soylent drinkers out there, I don't think this tastes much like Soylent 2.0. There are similarities, yes, but it's not just an alteration on the formula you already know. I think it'd be very easy to like (or dislike) this if you already dislike (or like) 2.0. I think this is tastier and has a fuller consistency, and I "enjoy" it more, but it doesn't feel like the two tastes are related to me; they just feel like different foods. Coffiest is less neutral than 2.0, so it's not a one-to-one replacement for it either. In fact I still drink about twice as much 2.0 as I drink Coffiest, both for the taste and because of the physical effects. I think this is a great choice if you want some variety or want the physical effects, but the more I drink of it the more I find myself using it for "special" occasions rather than as a daily thing. I think you should consider this on your own terms, rather than measuring it up as a replacement for some of the Soylent you currently take. One final note: The bottle is surprisingly stylish—much better than the 2.0 bottle, I'd say. I've gotten a couple of questions/comments from strangers because the bottle caught their eye. I actually wish they'd adjust the 2.0 bottle to take some design hints from this one, i.e., the centrally located lettering and the two-tone style.

Too sweet.
***OLD REVIEW: I have an unhealthy relationship with food. When I feel stressed (most of the time), I lose my appetite. Sometimes I'll go an entire day and fail to realize that I didn't eat that day until night. Soylent how allowed me to introduce nutrients and calories into my diet so that I'm not accidentally stress-starving myself. I’m fond of the consistency and texture, which is extremely smooth and non-chalky. The taste is a bit too sweet for my liking but it isn’t sweeter than other comparable products on the market or regular protein powder. These drinks are different in that they taste more like something that you would leisurely consume for dessert, not a meal replacement drink or protein shake you force yourself to drink. However, be aware of the ingredients. This contains Maltodextrin and sucralose. If you do your research, you'll see that there are many side effects including digestive issues, change in digestive enzymes, eventual gluten intolerance, increased risk for people w diabetes etc etc etc. I mention this because I am a healthy 24 year old with no preexisting conditions, but Soylent has STILL given me a lot of stomach issues/pain (only banana and vanilla). Yes, the products have not expired and are in good condition. Apparently there was a formula change a few years back—Many people did not like this change to Maltodextrin and sucralose. I have tried six flavors so far and I would rate them in the following order from best to worst: 1. Strawberry & Mint Chocolate - I’m normally not a huge fan of strawberry things but this is great. The strawberry is light, subtle, and refreshing; it's not overpowering like many strawberry flavored things usually are. I’ve seen some people complain that the flavor is too faint, I enjoy that it’s light. My partner describes the taste as “the cereal milk left behind after eating Trix cereal,” which he loves. The strawberry is a less vanilla-y version of the vanilla, if that makes sense. As for mint chocolate, I normally love mint flavored things. Mint chocolate is wonderful, it tastes like mint chip ice cream; rich and smooth, but not in an overpowering way. The balance between mint and chocolate is perfect; Gordon Ramsey would be pleased! Much better than creamy chocolate in my opinion. Mint choc is a less chocolate-y version of the creamy choc. 2. Vanilla - tastes like sweet vanilla soymilk; light and refreshing; classic and timeless taste. This (and I assume the Original flavor as well) would be excellent to use with cereal or oatmeal. Unfortunately, this along with banana give me stomach pain. 3. Creamy Chocolate - tastes straight up like chocolate milk. This was the first Soylent flavor I tried and I was hooked with the first sip. It's rich, smooth, and very chocolatey. I'm just not really a huge fan of super-chocolatey things in general, hence this is third. This is subjective. Choc could easily be top two if I were a chocolate fanatic. 4. Cafe Mocha - also subjective, I’m not a fan of coffee flavored things. I switched to tea years ago so this was overpowering for me. I think this would taste great for regular coffee drinkers. If I still drank coffee then I would definitely like this. 5. Banana - I'm not sure how but this is the absolute worst flavor. And I normally love banana bread and other banana flavored things. The first sip made me feel nauseous and a lot of things all at once; it almost tastes festive and like the winter holidays, in an overpowering, artificial, and terrible way. Banana is subtle at first; it tastes like cinnamon and banana cream. This flavor is the sweetest one and I can't stand it. This also gives me the most stomach issues along with vanilla. Banana is going straight in the trash, never to be purchased again. ****UPDATE**** While I stopped drinking Soylent a few months after initial use, it still isn’t a bad option for people trying to introduce more calories into their diet. I ultimately stopped due to all of the flavors being too sweet for my liking. If the sweetness were cut in half, I’d go back in an instant. I highly recommend the coconut water banana protein shakes from TJ’s if you dislike things that are too sweet.

Creamy chocolate Soylent drink UPDATE 11/29/2025
This is what will be 1st of many reviews of Soylent. I am in my 60's, 6' tall, 165 lbs. I never really cared for food. I eat because I know I have to. What I eat isn't very nutricious(?). Mostly frozen dinners heated in oven. I don't pay much attention to calories becuse I'm underweight for my height. Basically very healthy for my age - no diabetes, arthritis, never smoked and very little alcahol years ago. So Soylent sounds great. I ordered a 12 pack after recently getting blood test I'll use as a base line. I put bottles in refrig over night. 1st impression: Smells like any chocolate milk I ever smelled. Tastes pretty good to me. I prefer cold to room temp. I feel a little misled thinking a bottle will replace a meal which is how I took the promotion of Soylent. But as the bottle shows (and their promotion does indicate), one bottle contains 20% of most nutrients you need per day. So you need 5 bottles a day to get 100% of daily requirements based on a 2000 calorie diet. I don't eat 5 meals a day. And I'm closer to 1500 calories a day. My plan: I'm going to start by drinking 1 bottle per day to replace the desert I have after dinner. If I have no ill side effects and don't lose any weight in a month, I'll start 2 per day instead of lunch. My goal is 3 per day plus dinner with steady weight but better blood work which I'll have in 6 months with my annual physical. Cost: At approx $4/bottle $12/day is probably about what I spend on my unhealthy frozen dinner diet. If I can get better nutrician, I can talk myself into even 4 bottles a day - will see. Will keep you posted. UPDATE - Day 24: I am guessing the magnesium ( like in Milk of Magnesia) in Soylent is acting as a stool softener and has caused diarhea for the last 3 days so I paused the experiment until I figure how to counter this - maybe take "spore probiotics" daily? I'm not willing to quit - just a set back. UPDATE June 2025 I guess I'm lactose intollerant. I now take a probiotic twice a day and helps a little with the diahria issue. I now drink 2 bottles of Soylent a day which replaces my evening dessert and afternoon snack, I still eat the unhealthy frozen meals for lunch and dinner. I haven't gained nor lost any weight (not my intention to lose any) UPDATE July 2025 I now drink a 3rd Soylent 4 days a week to replace breakfast meal ( frozen waffles or sausage, egg & cheese on croisante). Still haven't gained or lost any weight. Unexpected perk - my blood pressure dropped from 140s/80s to 120s/70s. In case it's due to dehydration, I drink a gatorade once a day besides 2 glasses of water and the 2 to 3 Soylents. Next update will be in Nov when I have my annual physical with blood work and discuss Soylent with my dr. UPDATE Nov 2025 Dr. appt went well though blood work wasn't as perfect as I expected. Cholesteral and blood pressure were much better but others didn't show as much improvement as I expected. My dr. was more impressed than I was. I still rate 5 stars - this is a very good choice for those of us who are not into food.
