Reassuring and Informative Read
I bought this book to help me better understand and manage my gastritis. A lot of the content confirmed what I already knew, which was actually very reassuring—it gave me confidence that I’m on the right track. That said, I also picked up some new tips and insights I hadn’t come across before, which made it well worth the read. Clear, easy to follow, and helpful whether you’re just starting your journey or already know a bit about gastritis.

If you have gastritis, buy this book!!!!
I’m not one to write a detailed review like this but I am finally feeling better after three years of daily pain!! I’m 28, had been suffering with upper right abdominal pain for 3 years. I’ve been to the GP’s more times than I can remember, been for MRI’s, ultrasounds, had so many blood tests and other tests done with nothing showing. But experiencing daily, stabbing gnawing pain and fullness. Recently diagnosed with gastritis, the gastroenterologist told me to just “cut back on tomato’s and fizzy pop” and “not to worry too much” about my diet. I’m glad I didn’t listen and found this book as if I didn’t start following it, I wouldn’t have found myself healing from the horrendous pain I endured daily. This diet is very restrictive but it’s 1000x worth it for feeling better. There is also a Facebook group who follow to the book with so many lovely people there to support your journey. For me it’s been a week into the diet and I’m feeling so much better, the diet is 3 months strict and then you can start introducing new foods. 100% recommend

Some great information and advice
A pretty solid book. Good explanation of how and why the gut works and how it becomes inflamed.Sensible no nonsense advice on getting started... what eating and drinking habits needs to change, and some nice recipes.I liked the meal planning ideas, however I do feel that the American based recipe ideas mean there are ingredients that we might not find in your local UK supermarket ,but that's my only gripe... the basic message of eating a very simple vegetable based diet, avoiding acid producing foods and fats, no alcohol, no processed rubbish... makes sense. It's something of a daunting prospect (personally giving up all wine, all cheese, all...well pretty much all my favourite foods) but if you are suffering from chronic gastritis... it's worth a shot.Personally I can't see me forking out for the supplements recommended, due to cost, but the easier stuff.. swapping coffee for chamomile tea, eating a plant based un processed diet , no alcohol, etc IS doable. As a vegetarian, my biggest issue is getting enough protein in my diet when I'm avoiding cheese, but again... short term pain for long term gain!

Helpful
I found this book to be well thought out and helpful. This book has a lot of useful information that is delivered in a practical way. I like the recipes, they are easy to follow and, with a bit of experience, can be adapted. Possibly the best book I have found to date; I read a couple and searched the internet for advice. I notice that some people find the advice not to drink with meals difficult to follow. I would suggest a common-sense approach - I tend to drink small amounts throughout the day, and try to minimise liquids with my meals. I am still learning how to manage my gastritis, it is improving slowly, but this book gave me a good foundation to work from.

So far so good - it has calmed my stomach down
So I was a bit skeptical this could work for me, not because I didn't like the content of the book but more that my stomach was so painful after I developed a thyroid condition and I didn't think it was even remotely possible I could help it with a diet change. I think my thyroid had caused the stomach inflammation and my doctor just wanted to fill me up with PPI's, which don't agree with me and make me feel worse and I don't agree with them as a long term solution. I have been using this book with DGL and I use melatonin at night to reduce the stomach acid. I am now in a place after 2 weeks where I actually feel so much better, no upper abdominal pain and feel confident that this book will heal me.

Lots of information about gastritis
This book is full of information. Perhaps a little bit to much. Some of it is quite complicated to follow. There are lots of recipes and food ideas. It is written by an American and some of the ingredients and the way the food is prepared doesn’t translate well.I’m at the start of the healing process so unable to say how effective it is yet.

Practical & informative
If you have been diagnosed with gastritis this is a very useful book indeed. It covers everything you are likely to want to know. It covers the cause of gastritis, the treatment (both conventional & alternative, the best diet and it even threw in some useful recipes. I found it to be very practical and informative and I learned a lot from it.
