7 year old gives 5 stars
7 year old review: i like how many rainbows it makes. It was medium hard to build. You should have a window with sun coming in- it didn’t work so good in the winter but now it works great! This is s good toy for a 7 year old.

Way too hard for kids
This was really hard for my daughters to put together and it didn’t actually work very well. A huge disappointment all the way around.

Missed opportunity
This would be really great if it wasn’t battery operated. It hangs in a window and could easily been converted to solar. The batteries ware out quickly and it’s not easy for a kid to dismantle and replace. The motor is really loud and ruins the feel of the room while the few and pale rainbows spin. Also the plastic orb prism at the top will not stay on. The room does NOT light up like pictured. False advertising.

Great STEAM kit!
Great STEAM kit for my boys. Most steam kits end up being messy and needing to get tossed. This made a beautiful, solid sun catcher with 3 nice quality prisms. There are two heavy duty suction cups and it’s very secure on our window. I don’t mind the noise of the gears it’s like white noise and reminds me to turn it off. Unlike the solar ones it works as long as sun touches any of the prisms.

Love it!
We love this rainbow catcher, just like we love everything from Klutz. We like that it was pretty easy to put together and that there were lots of other experiments in the book. The noise doesn’t bother us at all. It now sits on our window making beautiful rainbows for us to enjoy.

Don’t waste your money
Cool idea, but it doesn’t work. It was mostly easy to build except the topper took forever to figure out. The directions there were useless. Pieces start to fall apart once you press it to the window. The motor isn’t very quite, and we didn’t see any rainbows. Disappointed kids, frustrated parents, and wasted money.

Not good for kids, very loud
I think some parts of the instructions would be too challenging for kids, not always very descriptive. The biggest issue is that not only is the motor loud, but the gears make a high pitch grinding sound. There is literally no way you could have this on in a room and ignore the sound. The use of batteries is also ridiculous when it sits in a window, I'd rather pay an extra $2 to include a mini 3V solar panel than use my own batteries.
