I needed to float some witch's hats over my front yard for my Halloween display. To make matters harder on myself, I wanted them to be lit from the inside like a magic spell was conjuring in them.I couldn't run any electric wires to them because they would be seen and that meant something that could hang from thin fishing line and turn on and off automatically each evening.I previously tried some lights that used button cell batteries. While those accomplished what I wanted, they didn't last long enough to avoid the need to change them during the time the decorations were up. These use AA batteries which allow them to last longer. It saves me getting up on a ladder right before Halloween night to make sure they're all still lit.To hang the hats, I ran heavier duty line from various points on the house (various permanent hooks for other decorations) to temporary posts hidden by the trees, essentially creating an overhead grid of lines I painted very dark blue. I didn't paint them black because the night sky actually isn't fully black and you can see black lines against the sky. I made sure to use paint that is safe for plastics to make sure the fishing line wouldn't melt.From the overhead grid, I hung vertical thinner lines down to the tops of each hat. I looped the light string inside each hat to create the lighting effect that could be seen through the semi-transparent hats.Since the battery packs aren't listed as waterproof, I stuck them inside little plastic snack bags and ran the string out of them. I used Dixie cups painted black and mounted upside-down in the top of the hat to not only provide a place to mount a hook to hang the hats and the lights, but to hide the power packs. This also prevents the lights from illuminating the line leading up from the hat, creating what would look like lit fiber optic wires coming out the tops of the hats.Once night fell, the hats literally looked like they were floating in mid air with no indication of how they were suspended. Plenty of visitors stared at them trying to see how they were suspended. Some could only tell if they stood in a couple specific spots where you could catch a glimpse of the fishing line when a decorative light would hit it just right.

Just what I needed for the Christmas decorations I make and sell at craft shows. Wrapped around the inside of the arch provides just the right amount of light. And the timer function is perfect!

I love the timer feature. Lights are a nice soft white that works perfect for my project.

I purchased ONE strand, battery operated with timer, from Dollar General.. on clearance.. FOR SEVEN DOLLARS!! WHAT! AND THEY FRIED! This seller sent me SIX... S.I.X. and they are so much more gorgeous with copper wire, brighter, one less battery, and the timer actually works as it says!! I will NEVER buy my decor lights from crap DG again.I included photos to show what I received from this purchase. All six lights came perfectly packaged in a cute box. Inside, I found the six light strands all tucked nicely inside. As shown in my photo, each strand comes wound up very delicately to facilitate easy installation and avoid knots. On the back side of the "Thank You" note in my photo, the seller took the time to hand write a note to me- talk about feeling special as a buyer! It put a huge smile on my face to see that she took the time to include a note to me personally, and that my purchase really matters to someone & their family.I will absolutely be back to purchase from this seller again.
